Fans don't love the newly introduced side characters.

HBO's Sex and The City was one of the most iconic comedies ever to appear on cable, becoming a landmark series for millions of fans around the world and earning the network huge ratings and advertising deals.

So it's no wonder that, in the current age of reboots and sequels, HBO decided to revive the show, asking Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon to reprise their roles in the SATC sequel series And Just Like That…

Of course, not all fans of the franchise loved the revived show, saying that Season 1 felt like a shell of SATC's former glory. However, the nostalgia factor earned the show some decent ratings, and HBO renewed the series for a second season, which is currently streaming on Max. While only two episodes are released so far, fans are already massively disappointed with the installment, arguing that the newly introduced side characters are a huge waste of time.

With Kim Cattrall refusing to join her co-stars for And Just Like That…, HBO decided to add some new faces to the show by introducing some of the main trio's friends, including Sara Ramirez's Che Diaz, Karen Pittman's Nya Wallace, and Sarita Choudhury's Seema Patel.

While it was interesting to see these new characters alongside long-time favorites, many fans felt that they were added just to bring some diversity to the show. Also, people dislike that these characters are followed even when they're not around the main trio, which is just weird because viewers watch the SATC sequel mainly for Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte — not for Che, Nya, and Seema.

'No one cares about the side characters. They can pop up from time to time, but we don't need full scenes of just them. We get it, everyone has a person of color friend,' one fan said.

Some people also point out that the three women aren't bad characters per se, but their inclusion in the SATC show seems somewhat forced.

'They should have just done another show with Nya, Lisa, and Seema to allow them to be fully fleshed out people. Would watch that for sure,' another fan noted.

Perhaps HBO should listen to the fan idea and develop Nya, Lisa, and Seema into full-fledged compelling characters, but not in And Just Like That…

Episode 3 of the new season will hit HBO on June 29, 2023.
