Amid All the Yellowstone Drama, When Will 1923 Season 2 Be Released?

For the most part, 2023 has been a major bummer for fans of Yellowstone. The first half of season five was not only released to underwhelming fanfare but has since been struggling mightily to regain the talents of its lead star. Thus, considering the recent feud between series creator Taylor Sheridan and Kevin Costner, those still entwined in the Sheridan-verse have been desperate for some good news.

1923 may have gotten buried in all the recent drama between Costner and Sheridan, but season one was actually one of the few bright spots in the past year for Sheridan. The Yellowstone creator no longer appears to have control of his set and has rather diverted his focus to other projects, including the prequels 1883 and 1923.

Season 2 of 1923 offers much promise

The first season of 1923 managed to live up to the incredible hype of having Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren lead the cast. It was a tall task for Sheridan, who already has his hands full with numerous other Yellowstone spin-offs. Be that as it may, 1923 recaptured the magic that Sheridan had in his earlier seasons of Yellowstone.

1923 was not only the most-watched premiere in 2022 but ended on an absolute cliffhanger. For this reason, viewers have been chomping at the opportunity to catch new episodes, hopefully in the not-so-distant future.

Fans found themselves rooting for Spencer Dutton to make it back to Montana while sheepherder Banner Creighton and business magnate Donald Whitefield threaten the livelihood of the ranch. Now, viewers are desperate to discover what comes of Spencer and Alexandra back in America.

Fans more excited for 1923 than Yellowstone

Despite all the drama between Kevin Costner and Sheridan, the same conflicts have not spilled over on the set of 1923. For now, Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, and the rest of the talented cast appear to have no issues with Sheridan or moving forward with a much-anticipated second season.

Thus, the next question is when can fans anticipate season two of 1923?

Unfortunately, the second season has yet to receive an official release date, however, most TV insiders speculate this will likely be toward the end of 2023, but more likely early in 2024.

The reality is these Westerns take a lot of effort, time, and money to produce. Furthermore, they require a lot of actors, many of which are very accomplished and have interests outside the production (as evident by the recent conflicts surrounding Costner).
