Beloved by fans, judges, and fellow contestants, Iam has every chance to win.

A hit singing competition series, American Idol premiered in 2002 — even before The X Factor, Got Talent, and The Voice franchises appeared. Over the past two decades, the show has launched a number of bright artists into stardom, including such huge names as Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson.

Now in its 21st season, the competition series keeps creating new stars.

The current Season 21 is rapidly approaching an end. The most recent episode saw the Top 8 contestants perform in front of Alanis Morissette and Ed Sheeran who were replacing Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, the regular judges on the show. Three singers were eliminated, and now there are only five performers left to fight for the title of American Idol 21.

As the season is only two episodes away from its conclusion, viewers are now betting on the winner. So who has the most chances of winning, according to fans?

However talented all Season 21 contestants are, Iam Tongi seems to be fans' absolute favorite. The charming artist from Hawaii stole our hearts with his rendition of James Blunt's 'Monsters' during his audition back in Episode 1.

Although Iam did not appear very confident at first, he has firmly gone through every step of American Idol and amassed many supporters and fans, including some among his fellow contestants. So it's no wonder Iam regularly tops polls about this season's potential winner.

Apart from the audition, the singer has done a total of seven performance this season:

  1. Hollywood Week – 'I Can't Make You Love Me' by Bonnie Raitt
  2. Showstopper Round – 'The Sound of Silence' by Simon & Garfunkel
  3. Top 26 – 'Don't Let Go' by Spawnbreezie
  4. Top 20 – 'The Winner Takes It All' by ABBA
  5. Top 12 – 'Bring It On Home to Me' by Sam Cooke
  6. Top 10 – 'What a Wonderful World' by Bob Thiele and George D. Weiss
  7. Top 8 – 'Guardian' by Alanis Morissette and 'Photograph' by Ed Sheeran

While people agree Iam is a very strong contender to win the current season, he will still have to face competition from the other four singers, one of whom, Wé Ani, is also considered to be this season's frontrunner.

'She's the most polished and the best vocalist of the bunch by a wide margin,' a fan said about Wé Ani. 'The show just wants to give it to Iam for some reason. Not saying he isn't great, but the judges are overreacting to every performance.'

Fans can't wait to see both artists compete in the next episode of American Idol. It will arrive on ABC on May 14, 2023.
