American Idol Fans Share Their Go-To Non-Winner Artists
The voters and judges got it wrong in some seasons of American Idol.
Singers who win American Idol are considered worthy of being the next big superstars of the music industry, but not all of them are able to secure a career after their time on the reality show.
In fact, some of the runners-up actually become more popular than the people they lost to, touring the world and releasing hit albums despite not winning American Idol.
Adam Lambert and Jennifer Hudson may be the most obvious non-winning artists who went on to have extremely successful careers, but they aren't the only ones. The folks over on Reddit recently decided to share their own favorite American Idol singers who failed to impress the voters.
Singer Tori Kelly didn't make it to the Top 24 on American Idol Season 9, but that hasn't stopped her from becoming an Internet sensation, amassing more than one million subscribers to her YouTube channel, releasing four albums, and going on four tours with her music.
Fans claim that Tori has always been incredibly talented and blame the judges for not seeing how great she was all those years ago.
Although Remi Wolf did not make it to the show after auditioning for American Idol Season 13, she never abandoned her dream of singing professionally, and after nearly a decade of investing in her career, Wolf has become a force to be reckoned with.
Often referred to as the rising star of indie music, Remi continues to surprise fans with each new material she releases.
And of course, David Archuleta is on everyone's mind when it comes to who is the best non-winner of American Idol, as the beloved hitmaker actually came in second place on Season 7.
To date, the upbeat pop singer has sold more than a million albums and three million tracks, enjoying a rather lucrative career.
While Chris Daughtry failed to become a major solo artist, the Season 5 finalist managed to launch a career with his rock band Daughtry, selling nine million records in the US.
So it seems that winning American Idol is not the ultimate recipe for success in the industry, as the aforementioned singers all do extremely well without the backing of the reality show.
