Despite HBO's reputation as a hub for some of the best television shows, it doesn't mean the network's projects are immune to failure. The recent spate of cancellations certainly proves this. While many hit shows like The Last of Us were almost instantly renewed for future seasons, others have been discontinued, much to the disappointment of their fans.

Gossip Girl

The revival of the well-known teen drama failed to match the original and survived only two seasons before HBO called it quits. Even the reemergence of some original characters didn't draw more viewers to the show. After Gossip Girl's poor ratings in the second season, its fate was sealed.

Titans

A favorite among DC fans, this show was canceled by HBO after its fourth season, despite viewers expecting more from Brenton Thwaites and the rest of the cast. It appears that HBO Max is no longer interested in DC shows, choosing to cancel this expensive project to concentrate more on original series that don't rely on characters in tightly-fitting superhero costumes.

Doom Patrol

A Black Lady Sketch Show

Regrettably, one of the most hilarious sketch shows is being pulled the plug on after four seasons. However, fans are not necessarily lamenting this, arguing that lasting four seasons for such a unique project was already far more than anyone had expected.
