AI Makeover Turns TBBT Characters into Models: Sheldon's a Natural in Gucci!
A Gucci fashion promo starring the beloved nerds? Yes, please!
Okay, fans of pop culture, particle physics, and astrophysics, do you love fashion as much as the protagonists of The Big Bang Theory?
Recently, the seven key characters of the fan-favorite sitcom made quite a fashion statement as they took part in a Gucci promo, wowing the public with their flamboyant outfits.
Feeling shocked and disoriented, are you? That's because such a flight of fancy wouldn't have been possible without AI.
Youtuber Pictorial Frank uses Midjourney as a tool to imagine what characters from various popular franchises would look like wearing clothes from popular brands and fashion houses. The digital artist's channel features a few promotional videos for Balenciaga, Gucci, and Nike with characters from SpongeBob, Scrubs, The Office, Modern Family, and The Big Bang Theory modeling for the brands.
Fans loved the video with Sheldon, Leonard, Penny, Howard, Raj, Amy, and Bernadette in their cool Gucci outfits, admitting that the looks and the characters' hilarious lines had them cracking up.
'Their colourful style is perfect for the guys,' one of the Youtubers noted. Indeed, AI has done a great job dressing the beloved TBBT characters in vibrant colors instead of their regular bland hoodies. And this new style matches the bright California atmosphere perfectly!
'Howard looking like he's the Doctor,' another fan said, pointing to the character's outfit at 0:12. Though the look is very much in Howard's spirit, it is comically reminiscent of the style of Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Doctors of Doctor Who.
And, intentionally or not, the comment itself is also hilarious because it looks like yet another dig at the fact that Howard doesn't have a doctoral degree unlike his friends.
While it's not clear whether Gucci was chosen by accident for the TBBT characters, fans may remember that Raj purchased the brand's clothing in Episode 16 of Season 10 — he bought a $300 Gucci baby cape for Halley, Howard and Bernadette's daughter.
Anyway, that AI-generated Gucci promo was a bit of fresh air for the sitcom's fans who have been missing their favorite characters since TBBT came to a close in 2019. Now, how would the Pasadena gang feel about doing another commercial for Dior or Louis Vuitton?
