There's only one singer whom she doesn't mind singing her music.

Summary

  • Adele is one of the most famous singers in the world.
  • Her music is loved all over the world as many artists make covers of her songs.
  • Adele believes that other people can't really relate to her lyrics, so they can't sing them.
  • The singer loved the legendary Queen of Soul's cover of Rolling in the Deep.

If you were asked to make a list of the five most famous female singers in the world, who would you put on the list? Ours definitely has Adele on it. Aside from being one of the most successful musicians in the world, the British artist is arguably the most outstanding.

Since debuting fifteen years ago with her first album, 19, Adele has gained immense popularity with fans worldwide and earned millions of dollars – the musician's fortune is estimated at a whopping $220 million – with only four albums released to date. 19, 21, 25 and 30, all named after Adele's age when the albums were recorded or released, contain a plethora of songs, including Set Fire to the Rain, When We Were Young and Love Is a Game, which have become ultimate hits.

Needless to say, there have been numerous covers of Adele's songs – some recorded by other professional singers. However, it seems that Adele herself doesn't like other people covering her music.

Others Can't Feel Adele's Songs Properly

'Music is such an emotional thing, and it's such a personal thing. Even as a listener. With my music, and for whoever listens to it, I think I'm not the best singer in the world at all, but no one else can sing my songs like me because they didn't write them. No one can sing my songs like me, period. They can't sing. The lyrics are not their own. And I don't think anyone else should sing my songs,' the singer shared in a recent interview.

Ultimately, Adele has nothing against other people covering her songs, she just doesn't like the result. And she doesn't like singing other artists' songs either – for the same reason that she can't really relate to the lyrics.

'No, I don't mind it when they do [cover my songs], but I'm just saying, they're never going to be able to emote it. Same way that I can't sing other people's songs. I didn't write the lyrics, and I can't sing as well as them. But it's just like, I would choose this any day. Also, the lethargicness of it for me is fantastic,' Adele said.

The Sole Exception

However, there was one great singer whose cover Adele approved of. Aretha Franklin once covered the British musician's hit ballad Rolling in the Deep. And Adele reverently admitted that it was a very well done cover. Sadly, the legendary soul singer has passed away and there's no hope for a collaboration between the two icons.
