A Little Inappropriate: Kanye West's Scrapped TV Show Pilot Leaks Online

Back in the early 2000s, the world was obsessed with Curb Your Enthusiasm, a gonzo television series following the life of real-life comedian and Seinfeld co-creator Larry David. HBO's comedy show was such a big hit that some of the most famous people at the time also wanted a series about themselves — including Kanye West, who was on top of the world in 2007.

HBO was clearly interested in having Kanye as part of their family and commissioned a pilot episode of his show A Little Inappropriate. Described by West as a cross between Curb Your Enthusiasm and Entourage, the series was meant to follow the fictional exploits of Kanye as he struggled with fame while keeping his entourage under control.

Unfortunately, the show never came to fruition, and the pilot was lost in HBO's vaults before resurfacing online earlier this week.

After seeing the pilot, fans immediately understood why HBO passed on the idea of turning the episode into a full show, as Kanye West's material was just too raw to really appeal to the general audience. However, many people praised some of the scenes as comedic gold, including the scene where Kanye signs some CDs and gets into a verbal fight with one of his haters.

The show's supporting cast was great, as Kanye naturally invited a lot of promising performers to get his project off the ground. However, some fans took offense to the fact that Kanye wasn't trying to act in his own series, laughing during takes and apparently not taking the filming process seriously.

'Docs aren't bad. Docs are only bad when the person the doc is about has full control over the whole thing,' one fan noted, suggesting that the pilot episode would be much better if it wasn't so Kanye-centered.

Still, it's great that one of the biggest lost media items of its era has been found and is finally available online for all fans to witness. Despite all the flaws of its pilot, Kanye West's A Little Inappropriate was a promising project, and it's a shame it was canceled by HBO at such an early stage.
