PlayStation Store just dropped Star Wars Battlefront 2 to under $5 on PS4 and PS5, turning the blockbuster shooter into one of the best steals in the galaxy. Suit up and dive into epic battles for pocket change while the deal lasts.

If you missed it the first time (or swore it off during the loot box meltdown), here’s a cheap excuse to dive back in: Star Wars Battlefront 2 is currently going for the price of a fancy coffee on PlayStation.

The deal (and the clock)

  • Price: $4.99 on the PlayStation Store
  • Discount: 75% off the usual $19.99
  • Platforms: PS4 and PS5 (via backward compatibility)
  • Ends: October 23 at 2:59 a.m. ET
  • Developer/Publisher: DICE and Electronic Arts

What you actually get for five bucks

It’s the full Battlefront 2 package: glossy, licensed Star Wars chaos across the big pillars. On the ground, you’re slicing and blasting through places like Starkiller Base and the jungles of Yavin 4, with vehicles like AT-STs backing the chaos. In space, it’s classic X-wings vs First Order hardware, including runs on massive Star Destroyers. And if you want story instead of PvP, there’s a single-player campaign about Iden Versio, an elite Imperial special forces operative, that stretches across three decades of Star Wars timeline.

The messy launch, the turnaround, and where it landed

When it dropped in 2017, critics were lukewarm: a 68 average on Metacritic from 62 reviews, with outlets like ComingSoon landing at 7/10. Players were harsher, thanks to the aggressive loot box setup that torched the conversation at launch. Still, the game didn’t die. It kept getting updates and, somehow, this year it hit an all-time peak of more than 35,000 concurrent players. Not bad for a title that looked DOA back in the day.

If you’re on PS4 or PS5 and want a big-budget Star Wars shooter with a legit campaign and plenty of multiplayer, $4.99 is an easy call. Just grab it before the sale flips off at 2:59 a.m. ET on October 23.
