It looks like Zayn is only supporting one of his former colleagues.

One Direction was the biggest pop band in the world in the early 2010s, outperforming every other act in terms of sales and sold-out concerts.

However, the band seemed to be just a producer's project, and as soon as the singers each became huge superstars, One Direction disbanded.

Seven years later, it seems that the former bandmates are not particularly close to each other, preferring to not even mention each other's names. Nonetheless, Zayn decided to share his opinion about his fellow bandmates.

Zayn and Harry Styles were the biggest stars of One Direction, so when Zayn was asked by SiriusXM who his favourite bandmate was, many people expected to hear Harry's name. Instead, Zayn made a rather unexpected choice that only true One Direction fans would understand and support.

'You know what, Niall's my favourite. How about that? There you go. Yeah, I'm a Niall fan,' Zyan said.

It seems that the fans who supported Zayn and Niall all these years were right, as Zayn indeed has a soft spot for his former bandmate. While this choice might have been surprising a few years ago, given Niall's career was going through a rough patch at the time, Horan has since bounced back, joining The Voice as a judge and releasing a slew of successful music.

However, while fans are delighted to hear Zayn's support for Horan, they wonder if the two singers are actually on speaking terms or if their friendship ended when One Direction went their separate ways. Zayn has remained tight-lipped on the matter, but his 2017 interview with Billboard may offer some insight.

'Our relationships have definitely changed since we were in a band together, but I think that's just life. Everybody grows up — two of the guys have got kids now. But no, I don't talk to any of them, really,' Zayne said.

While this sounds a bit heartbreaking, fans are still grateful that the singer can at least praise the music of his former bandmates!
