7 Lesser-Known Shows to Try if You're All Out of Sitcoms to Watch
These sitcoms are great but sadly little known.
With so many comedies available to stream and many more coming out each year, it's still hard to find one that really grabs your attention and makes you want to watch all episodes from start to finish.
But thanks to Reddit users, you now have a choice of lesser-known sitcoms to check out. Hopefully, these hidden gems will brighten up your day and scratch that comedy binge itch.
7. Grounded for Life (2001, 5 seasons)
IMDb rating: 7.5/10
We think Grounded for Life hasn't gotten as much attention as it should have. The sitcom is an incredibly insightful, light-hearted and hilarious story about an Irish family in New York — a young couple with three kids who haven't yet found their place in life.
6. The Middle (2009, 9 seasons, rated 88%)
IMDb rating: 7.7/10
Another underrated comedy, Middle is narrated by an optimistic mother of an average middle-class Midwestern family, trying to navigate her chaotic life with husband and three children.
5. The Golden Girls (1985, 7 seasons, rated 92%)
IMDb rating: 8.2/10
Whenever you feel bored with modern shows, it's a good idea to revisit the classics. The Golden Girls is the perfect choice because it is both hilarious and unique, following four elderly women who share a house in Miami.
4. Corner Gas (2004, 6 seasons)
IMDb rating: 8.3/10
Probably not many people outside of Canada have heard of this sitcom, but it's definitely worth your time. The plot revolves around the employees of a backwater gas station and convenience store located in the Canadian wilderness with no nearby settlements.
3. Ghosts (2019, 4 seasons)
IMDb rating: 8.3/10
Imagine if the new residents and the house ghosts from American Horror Story Season 1 became friends and shared the household together — that is exactly what happens in the British sitcom Ghosts, where the main characters coexist with the ghosts in their old house.
2. Brassic (2019, 4 seasons, rated 90%)
IMDb rating: 8.4/10
If you enjoy British humor, check out Brassic starring Joe Gilgun. In the vein of Guy Ritchie's films, the show follows a group of friends from a northern English town, who make money by stealing.
1. I'm Alan Partridge (1997, 2 seasons)
IMDb rating: 8.6/10
Alan Partridge is a hapless DJ. His wife left him, he was dropped by the BBC, and now he works for a Norwich radio station while living in a roadside hotel. Partridge spends his free time annoying the hotel staff and locals with his inflated sense of celebrity, and his distinct British humor is just hilarious.
