7 Great Netflix Shows in Danger of Being (Unfairly) Canceled in 2023

This year has been incredibly chaotic for the television industry, with lots of series being delayed due to the WGA strike and companies trying to cut costs, canceling many popular shows because of low ratings. Sadly, Netflix is leading this cancellation trend, making fans worried that more of their favorite shows will be cut short later in 2023.

Here are seven series that are likely in danger.

7. Unstable (2023, 1 season)

When this light-hearted comedy was released on March 30, it did not get high ratings and dropped out of Netflix's daily Top 10 a week later. The project is already on hiatus due to the WGA strike, and it's unlikely to get renewed for a second season, though Netflix hasn't made an official announcement yet.

6. Ratched (2020, 1 season)

Season 1 of the prequel to Miloš Forman's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, delving into the issues of the corrupt mental health system, received much critical acclaim when it was released in 2020, and fans fully expected to see Season 2 in the following years. However, it's 2023 already, and Netflix is yet to comment on the future of the show.

5. Glamorous (2023, 1 season)

Glamorous was one of the few shows of the season to feature a light comedic representation of queer people. Unfortunately, the series suffered low ratings and dropped out of the top spot in its third week. Given that the industry is in much turmoil right now, it looks like the show won't be renewed.

4. God's Favorite Idiot (2022, 1 season)

The apocalyptic sitcom was clearly aiming for The Good Place level of success but was met extremely coldly by the audience. While Netflix ordered 16 episodes, only eight have been filmed and released, and the second half of the project apparently never began shooting.

3. Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities (2022, 1 season)

Though the anthology series was very well received by fans and critics, its current status remains unknown. Obviously, it's hard to imagine producers saying no to horror maestro Guillermo del Toro, but knowing Netflix, anything is possible.

2. Shadow and Bone (2022, 2 seasons)

Despite the popularity among fantasy fans, many felt that Season 2 was rushed, as if the writers tried to cram as many book events into the season as possible, knowing that their project would be canceled. Many expect Shadow and Bone to get officially canceled this year.

1. Russian Doll (2019, 2 seasons)

The first season of Russian Doll was a smash hit for Netflix, but the second chapter of the comedy-drama didn't appeal to many viewers. A year after its release, fans are still waiting for the producers to get the show renewed or canceled. Creator Natasha Lyonne obviously has some bright ideas for Season 3, but unfortunately, they may remain unrealized.
