6 Shows That Are Almost as Good as Waiting for Outlander Season 7 Part 2

But don't be discouraged because now is the best time to check out other exciting series that feature historical events and time-defying romance.

6. Timeless (2016, 2 seasons)

Fans of Outlander are sure to enjoy Timeless even though this show is leaning more towards the sci-fi genre, while trying to balance fantasy and historical drama. The story centers around an unlikely trio of protagonists — a history professor, a US Army officer, and an engineer — traveling back in time to catch a dangerous terrorist who intends to rewrite history.

5. Miss Scarlet and the Duke (2020, 3 seasons)

If Claire is the character who got you hooked on Outlander, you'll enjoy this series as well. This show's protagonist is Eliza Scarlet, who takes over her father's detective agency after his death. Her assistant is Inspector William 'Duke' Wellington, who has to learn to see her as a colleague rather than a woman in a man's business.

4. A Discovery of Witches (2018, 3 seasons)

Although this series' narrative doesn't resemble Outlander much, fans often compare the two shows because both feature time travel and forbidden romance. A Discovery of Witches follows an Oxford history professor, who is also a witch, as she finds a magical scroll that she swears to protect and forms an unlikely alliance with a vampire.

This historical series revolves around the Culper Ring, a network of spies who worked for George Washington and helped to change the course of the American Independence War. Turn: Washington's Spies will appeal to those fans who were captivated by the atmosphere of the New World and the beginning of the Revolution in the last season of Outlander.

2. Black Sails (2014, 4 seasons)

You may remember Jamie and Claire's maritime adventures in the West Indies, and if you enjoyed that, you will probably love this series as well. Created as a prequel to Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, Black Sails follows the pirate misadventures of Captain Flint in the early 18th century.
