6 Celebs Who Hid Their Pregnancies On Screen So Well, Nobody Noticed
These actresses had to forget about their delicate condition for a while and go all out on the set while pregnant.
1. Lena Headey, Game of Thrones
The actress was five months pregnant when the production approached the end of season five. The finale featured one of the most striking scenes in the entire series: Queen Cersei does the "walk of shame" from the prison to the royal palace completely naked. It took three days to film that scene, and of course, no body double was involved. But looking at the result, viewers can't tell the actress was in the family way when filming.
2. Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow, Friends
In the third season, the writers of the iconic show had to invent Phoebe's pregnancy so that Lisa Kudrow's rounded tummy wouldn't cause questions from viewers. But when Courteney Cox got pregnant in the last season, such plot tricks couldn't help: Monica and Chandler couldn't have children of their own. The entire crew helped the actress, choosing the right angles and dressing the mom-to-be in baggy outfits. But the disguise wasn't always successful: Courteney's baby bump is still showing in some episodes.
3. Sarah Jessica Parker, Sex and the City
The actress found out she was pregnant in the early days of filming season five, while her character Carrie Bradshaw had no intention of having a baby any time soon. The series' stylists did everything they could to hide the star's condition: Sarah put on voluminous clothing, a huge cape, or bright accessories that were supposed to draw attention away from the belly. These tricks didn't work as Parker's bump got too big, and the producers decided to cut the season down to eight episodes.
4. Julia Roberts, Ocean's Twelve
Julia Roberts is one of those few actresses who did not put their careers on hold even while pregnant. During the filming of Ocean's Twelve, Roberts was expecting twins. In November 2004, shortly after finishing work on the picture, the actress became the happy mother of a girl and a boy. In Fireflies in the Garden, the actress also did not have to wear a pillow to fake pregnancy as she was six months pregnant at the time of filming.
5. Gillian Anderson, The X-Files
During the second season of The X-Files, Gillian was filmed in mostly close-ups, and her costumes were designed to hide her impressively large belly. Furthermore, the script had to be revised to have her character Scully abducted by aliens — that happened at the time when the actress went into labor. Ten days after her daughter was born, Anderson returned to work. The film's director Chris Carter became Piper Maru's godfather and even named one of the episodes after her.
6. Marcia Cross, Desperate Housewives
Marcia didn't feel well on the set, so the last episodes of Desperate Housewives were filmed in her apartment in Los Angeles. In the series, her character Bree Van de Kamp is faking pregnancy to cover up her underage daughter Danielle. Though we don't know for sure, it's very likely that this storyline was added to the script to hide the actress' delicate condition. Shortly before her 45th birthday, Marcia gave birth to twins Eden and Savannah.
