Would you guess number 1?

The idea of getting celebrities to dress up as random characters and sing live on stage makes you wonder what the brains behind The Masked Singer were smoking when they came up with it.

It was a terrible idea. But somehow it works and has become a guilty pleasure for millions. And in a recent Reddit post, fans discussed which voice actors they'd like to see in the contest.

Here are 5 of the most popular choices:

5. Greg DeLisle

As the voice of Daphne Blake, Betty Rubble, Lois Lane and Wonder Woman in animated films, Greg DeLisle (sometimes credited as Grey Griffin) has a voice most of us have heard. But whether we'd recognise her if she belted out a Taylor Swift song while dressed as an ice cream is debatable. It would be one of those voices we all recognise but can't place.

4. Tom Kenny

Actor and comedian Tom Kenny has a huge filmography of voice roles, including the title character in SpongeBob SquarePants, Penguin in the Batman cartoon series and Rabbit in Winnie the Pooh. But if you listened to his normal speaking voice, you'd be hard pressed to identify any of his roles. So the clues would be important if you wanted to figure him out before he had to "take it off".

3. Tara Strong

In a career that dates back to 1987, Tara Strong has voiced characters such as Batgirl, Harley Quinn and Black Cat. She's appeared in several Marvel animated series and films, and has also worked on popular cartoons such as Rugrats and Extreme Ghostbusters. The 50-year-old may be a tough one for fans of the Masked Singer to recognise, as her voice is not associated with any particular character or series.

2. Nancy Cartwright

After starting out as an actress, Nancy Cartwright's first voice role was in My Little Pony: The Movie. More voice roles followed before she landed the role of Bart Simpson in The Tracey Ullman Show in 1987. It was the role that would eventually lead to her being part of one of the most popular animated series of all time. Now that is a voice you might just recognise.

1. Seth MacFarlane

Starting out as a writer for Hanna-Barbera, Seth MacFarlane always dreamed of creating something a little edgier. That opportunity came at the age of 25 when Fox picked up his pilot for Family Guy. As the voice of Peter, Stewie, Brian and Quagmire, he can turn his mouth into a variety of speech patterns - but he may be so familiar that we'd all guess the voice behind the mask.
