Looks like we are in for even more drama and emotional scenes in the new season.

Only two weeks remain until Virgin River returns to Netflix with ten freshly-made episodes. That doesn't seem long, but if you are as anxious as we are, Netflix has released enough promo material to speculate about what the writers have in store for our beloved Mel and Jack, among other characters.

Here are five storylines fans expect to see in Season 5 of Virgin River, based on the official synopsis, trailer, and first-look photos. And frankly, we can't wait.

Mel will have a high-risk pregnancy

The teaser videos and images from the upcoming season suggest that Mel's pregnancy is still in the early stages, which frankly isn't a surprise to fans who have been following Charmaine's pregnancy since Season 1. Mel may be experiencing some unwelcome complications, as evidenced by her words in the trailer:

'It makes sense to prioritize my high-risk pregnancy and my family over my job.'

Does this mean that Mel and Jack will have a pregnancy scare in Season 5? Probably. But they will definitely come out of it unscathed.

Mel will quit her job

This is sad, but it looks like due to her health complications, Mel will have to leave her job at the clinic, and Doc will have to deal with Dr. Cameron. In a bittersweet scene in the trailer, Mel begs Doc to let her go, and he is not willing to do so. These two have traveled a long road together, so it will be heartbreaking to see them part as colleagues.

Charmaine is not finished with Jack, but he is

Even though Jack is not the father of Charmaine's twins, fans are sure that this toxic woman will not leave him alone. She already tried to break up Jack and Mel and will probably do this again by guilting the man back into her life.

It is likely that Jack will have to put his new family with Mel above all else and finally say no to Charmaine. A good development point.

Jack will be in trouble

Remember that Jack started a glamping business last season with Nick's money? Well, his new business may run into trouble in Season 5 because Nick's sister is Virgin River's drug dealer, Melissa. No doubt she'll try to use Jack to launder her drug money, so that storyline doesn't look good for our beloved protagonist.

Brie will finally bring Don to heel

In the Season 4 finale, Don comes to Brie to silence her about the abuse she suffered at his hands. But this strong lady is not going to be silenced, so she goes to court. The trailer and first-look photos show that now that Brie had the courage to stand up to Don, she will make sure he is punished. Are we in for the most inspiring storyline or what?
