Fans say these five are inconspicuously good.

NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is one of the longest-running TV shows, marking its 25th anniversary next year. Even though it's essentially a spin-off of another beloved series, Law & Order, SVU has surpassed its predecessor in popularity and the number of episodes, becoming the flagship show in the franchise.

But of course, with as many as 538 episodes released, it is impossible for viewers to love all of them equally. And as some fans on Reddit have pointed out, there are a number of SVU episodes that are criminally underrated and deserve way more attention from the audience.

5. Guilt (Season 3, Episode 18)

One of the earlier episodes, 'Guilt' has been mostly overlooked by fans, and the Redditors think it's a disgrace given how philosophically deep and eye-watering this episode is. The plot gives the characters more depth, establishes the relationship between them in a more serious manner, and, as many other episodes, reveals some of the serious issues with the American legal system.

4. Infected (Season 7, Episode 12)

Described at the same time as SVU's most transparent and convoluted episode of all, 'Infected' shows how problematic simple cases may be. The creators delivered a satisfying finale to their story, and these kinds of smart endings are something we love legal dramas for.

The intensity of storytelling in this episode is what makes it gold. The plot is nerve-wracking, following a sex offender who kidnaps two children. Oddly enough, 'Fault' is also satisfying to watch as it helps SVU's main characters bond over the case.

2. Unorthodox (Season 9, Episode 13)

Due to its rape-related premise, 'Unorthodox' is rather unnerving. But the episode is also fascinating to watch as it centers around the clash of the legal system and bigoted religious groups, as both attempt to serve justice.

1. Strange Beauty (Season 13, Episode 22)

Revolving around a self-mutilation movement, the episode has an eye-opening effect on the viewer. 'Strange Beauty' follows the detectives as they unravel several seemingly unrelated amputation cases and find a missing girl.
