5 TV Couples Who Shocked Us With Their Off-Screen Romances
Some brought romance to the screen, others took it from there.
Celebrity romances attract millions of people worldwide. After all, we often have a penchant for prying into other people's business, especially their love life. Given this, it's no surprise that so many people find TV stars' relationships so fascinating.
Furthermore, the love lives of celebrities can sometimes take fans by surprise. Here are five high-profile relationships that many didn't see coming:
5. Evan Peters and Emma Roberts
The American Horror Story franchise stars played lovers in the third season of the anthology series. Roberts portrayed Madison Montgomery, a powerful witch, while Peters was her on-screen beau, Kyle Spencer. They also reappeared in the fourth season.
However, Peters and Roberts's off-screen relationship reportedly began in 2012 when they met on the set of Adult World. By 2019, their romance had fizzled out.
4. Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas
Fans adored Snow White and Prince Charming from ABC's hit fantasy drama Once Upon a Time, which depicted a truly enchanting love story. Unbeknownst to many, the actors started dating soon after the show's debut in 2011. Dallas and Goodwin tied the knot in 2014 and have since welcomed two children. As of 2023, they are still happy together.
3. Jesse Spencer and Jennifer Morrison
Jennifer Morrison, who played Dallas and Goodwin's long-lost on-screen daughter in OUaT, starred in Fox's medical drama House from 2004 to 2010 before her lead role on the ABC series. On the set of House, she met Jesse Spencer, and sparks flew. Their real-life romance was echoed on-screen, with their characters, Dr. Cameron and Dr. Chase, becoming an item. Morrison mentioned their off-screen romance lasted three years: all the while, their TV counterparts remained involved.
2. Scott Foley and Jennifer Garner
While starring in The WB's Felicity, Foley met his future wife — Garner, who guest-starred as his character's long-term, long-distance girlfriend, Hannah. Though their on-screen relationship ended due to Hannah's infidelity, Scott Foley and Jennifer Garner's real-life love story flourished, culminating in a 2000 wedding. Sadly, they parted ways in 2003.
1. Johnny Galecki and Sara Gilbert
While Johnny Galecki is often linked to his The Big Bang Theory co-star Kaley Cuoco, she wasn't his first on-set flame. In the 1990s, Galecki was involved with his Roseanne co-star Sara Gilbert. Intriguingly, their characters were also romantically involved in the show. However, their real-life relationship came to an end when Gilbert came to understand her own sexuality, realising she was lesbian during their time together.
