Will Season 5 finally deliver what we've all been waiting for?

We don't have long to wait before Virgin River hits the screens. And these five things need to happen just as soon as it does:

1. A time jump

Things have been moving pretty slowly so far, and we really need to move into the future. Let's find out where the story is going and pick it up later with a new dynamic that will bring a fresh element to Virgin River.

Of course, this device will also mean that we don't have to go through a Charmaine birth scene, which would be the icing on the cake.

2. Finding out who the father of Charmaine's babies is

This is a must. If it's not revealed conclusively who the biological father is, the seed of doubt that it could be Jack's will remain. And while that might suit a soap opera, in this case we could do with some closure on this particular storyline.

And it has to be that Charmaine was telling the truth when she admitted that Jack was not the father.

3. Jack calls out Charmaine

Come on, Jack. Charmaine is childish, manipulative and downright horrible. The way she messed with his emotions over the parentage of the babies is nothing short of disgusting. And she's been horrible to Mel pretty much since the day she arrived in Virgin River.

So it's time for a real showdown. Jack has to find Charmaine and tell her exactly what he thinks of her antics. Which is another reason for a time jump, as it's not really fair to deliver such a message to a new mother.

4. Charmaine leaves

Ok, this list is a bit Charmaine-heavy. But if all of the above happens, we won't need her anymore and she can leave with her tail between her legs.

5. Mel and Jack actually (like, properly) get together

I'm not talking in the physical sense - although there will no doubt be plenty of that. But it's what the show has certainly been gearing up for. And it's what everyone wants. Despite the show's four seasons, which have so far spanned just under a year, there is only so much viewers can put up with when it comes to an on-screen relationship. And there'll be an uproar if it's one that ends in off. So give us what we want and let us see them settle down permanently.
