The most tear-jerking episodes of Supernatural.

During the 15 seasons of Supernatural, the series' writers delivered plenty of masterful and compelling storylines, leaving viewers depressed and horrified over some of the events and making them laugh along with the Winchester brothers.

As a whole, the show was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster, and many of the scenes will forever stay in our minds. So of all the sad moments on Supernatural, fans on Reddit shared the five most devastating, and these are sure to make you cry.

5. Bad Boys (Season 9, Episode 7)

In the episode 'Bad Boys', an old friend of Dean's, who runs a home for delinquent kids, asks the brothers for help getting rid of a ghost. It turns out to be the ghost of the mother of one of the children, Timmy, who can't let go of his loss after her death. Dean convinces Timmy that it's important to move on, and the boy manages to say heartbreaking goodbye to his mother forever.

4. A Very Supernatural Christmas (Season 3, Episode 8)

Sometimes the plot doesn't have to be tragic to bring out sadness in us. A great example is the Season 3 Christmas episode, where in addition to dealing with demon Anti-Santa, Sam and Dean are just spending a family Christmas together. Knowing what happened to Dean the next season, that episode feels incredibly gut-wrenching on rewatch.

3. Regarding Dean (Season 12, Episode 11)

There is no doubt that Jensen Ackles is an incredibly talented actor, and the emotions he evoked in fans are proof of that. One of the most touching and tragic moments was when Dean, slowly losing his memory due to the witch's spell, looked into the mirror, crying and repeating to himself that Sam was his brother, John Winchester his father, and Cas his best friend.

2. Abandon All Hope… (Season 5, Episode 10)

The Winchesters' friend Jo was anything but a lackluster presence, enriching the narratives of the boys and the broader Supernatural universe. Jo was assertive, sardonic, and strong. Unfortunately, she and her mother, Ellen, met their end battling the Hellhounds. For many, that was a truly depressing moment.

1. Death's Door (Season 7, Episode 10)

But nothing compares to Bobby's death. After being shot by a Leviathan posing as Dick Ronan, Bobby touchingly referred to Sam and Dean as 'my boys' while talking with the Reaper, which brought many of us to tears, as he was a true father figure to them. The episode took an even more tragic turn as Bobby woke up before his death and jokingly called the brothers 'idiots.'
