5 Shows to End in 2024 After Seven-Season Tenure on the Air
The industry is about to say goodbye to some of its most popular projects.
With the end of the writers and actors strikes, Hollywood has been busy catching up on all the projects that were put on hold due to the protests. First and foremost, fan-favorite shows are now back in production, with many premiering in the near future. But for some series, the upcoming seasons will be their swan songs.
Here are seven popular shows that will end this year after seven seasons on the air.
The Good Doctor
Although Grey's Anatomy still rules the medical drama scene, this show has been its main competition since its debut in 2017. Following Shaun Murphy, a young and talented autistic doctor working at San Jose Bonaventure Hospital, The Good Doctor has won over audiences with its zeitgeisty storylines and compelling and relatable characters. The seventh and final season of the medical drama is scheduled to premiere on February 20.
Young Sheldon
CBS' current flagship comedy, the spin-off of The Big Bang Theory, remains one of the most popular shows on television. Centered around Shelly Cooper, TBBT's most iconic character, and his family, Young Sheldon was an instant hit when it premiered in 2017. Smart jokes, charismatic characters, and an engaging story, all sprinkled with family drama, cemented the sitcom's popularity with viewers. Sadly, YS is set to end after Season 7, which premieres on February 15.
Station 19
This Grey's Anatomy spin-off is also set in Seattle and follows the staff of the titular fire station as they navigate their professional and personal lives. As popular as Station 19 is with viewers, it's coming to an end after the upcoming seventh season, which premieres on March 14.
SEAL Team
This military drama from CBS has had a complicated run since its debut in 2017. After airing for four and a half seasons on the network, it was picked up by Paramount+, where it has been released ever since. The show centers on an elite unit of Navy SEALs, following them on dangerous missions around the world as they risk their lives to fulfill their duties. The exact release date for Season 7 of SEAL Team hasn't been announced yet, but it's certain that it will be the show's final one.
S.W.A.T.
This CBS procedural revolves around Shemar Moore's character, LAPD Sergeant Daniel Harrelson, nicknamed Hondo, and follows him in his new job as head of the LAPD's Special Weapons and Tactics Unit. A former Marine and Los Angeles native, Hondo feels an obligation to serve both his fellow officers and the residents of the city. The show's seventh and final season is scheduled to premiere on February 16.
