5 Scariest Horror Movies for Those Who Still Miss Slashers Like Wrong Turn

These flicks will make you sleep with your lights on.
Wrong Turn is a classic slasher movie that has all the key elements: stupid teenagers, terrifying maniacs, brutal murders, and other recognizable clichés.
We have chosen five films that helped shape this bloody and sometimes hilarious subgenre.
1. Frontier(s), 2007
After mass riots caused by the election results, a group of robbers flee the country. Two of them decide to wait in a remote area while the others go to the hospital.
The men stop at a rural motel near the French border to wait for their people. Little do they know that the owners of this remote motel are a family of sadistic cannibals. The family begins to hunt the refugees, killing some and experimenting on others.
2. Just Before Dawn, 1981
Ranger Roy warns a group of tourists that danger may be lurking in the woods. The man advises the guys not to go too far, but they ignore his words and continue their journey deep into the thicket.
The group sets up camp in the forest. But soon one of them finds a strange amulet and tells of a legend that murders took place here and that a madman still wanders among the trees. At night, his words are confirmed: a killer appears, mercilessly preying on tourists.
3. House of Wax, 2005
A group of young people – Carly, her twin brother Nick, her boyfriend Wade and their friends – are on their way to a football game in Louisiana. On the way, the group stops for the night. The next morning, the boys discover that Wade's car is broken.
He drives to the nearest town to get parts, only to find that only two people live there: mechanic Bo and his taciturn brother. The men are busy luring tourists to the town, then catching them and pouring wax on them to replenish their figurine collection.
4. The Descent, 2005
Sarah, who lost her husband and daughter in a car accident, goes to a cave with her friends a year later to escape her grief. A group of six women, including their leader Juno, descend into an unknown cavern.
At first, everything goes according to plan, but soon the tunnel collapses, cutting off the way back. Searching for a way out, the women discover that the caves are inhabited by blind and bloodthirsty creatures that look like savage humans. The battle for survival begins.
5. High Tension, 2003
Two friends, Marie and Alex, go to Alex's family's country house for the weekend to prepare for upcoming exams. However, the tranquility turns to horror when a mysterious madman who drives around the neighborhood in an old truck breaks into the house.
The uninvited guest first kills Alex's parents and then kidnaps the girl herself. Marie manages to hide from the killer, but instead of running away, she decides to save her friend.
The girl calls the police and rushes to help in a stolen car. But at some point it becomes clear that there is no madman.
