It's time to hire fans as writers.

Riverdale has proven to be a rollercoaster ride for fans of the Archie comics. After the first season, the show took a dramatic turn, delving into occultism, mysticism, and frequent plot holes that the writers kept forgetting.

Rumours have been circulating that Season 7 will conclude with multiple timelines simultaneously, leaving interpretation up to the fans. Many were not fond of the direction the writers were taking, fearing it could diminish the value of the previous six seasons. Now, with only seven episodes remaining, viewers have started to propose their own ideas they believe could make the finale much better.

5. Returning to the pre-time jump period

Nothing compares to fans' dissatisfaction with the time jump after Season 4 when Archie reconnected with his adult friends seven years later. Many viewers wish for their beloved characters to return to their teenage years, the heart of the show since Season 1.

4. Returning to present-day Riverdale after changes in the 1950s

If the characters return to the present day, many fans would like to see the issues they confronted in the past reflected in the present. They tackled sexism, racism, homophobia, and other issues in the 1950s, so their activism in the past should have an impact in present-day Riverdale.

3. Restoring their memories

The main issue with the new timeline is that the characters have lost their memories, erasing their character development. That is the simplest yet most significant change fans hope to see reverted in the finale.

2. An opportunity to choose the timeline

If the characters regain their memories and the rumours of multiple coexisting timelines in the finale are true, fans would like them to choose their own paths.

For instance, Midge could discover her death in the original timeline and decide to remain in the 1950s with Fangs, while Toni could continue to date Cheryl in the present.

1. It was all in Jughead's head

Given the tangled web the writers have spun, with little indication of untangling all the twists and turns in the plot, many fans are inclined to believe the entire saga could merely have been a figment of Jughead's imagination, who created comic books about his high school friends.

We can't help but wonder what the writers have in store for us. The next episode of Season 7 will be released on 19 July.
