Fans are still not over one particular romantic scene, calling it the worst in the show's history.

MTV's series about teenage werewolf Scott McCall coming to terms with his supernatural powers while trying to live his best teenage life was a huge hit for the network throughout the 2010s, as viewers loved the series for its atmosphere and relatable characters.

However, a number of fans still took offense to some of the show's storylines, and many people still hate the scene where Lydia kissed Scott, calling it the worst in Teen Wolf history.

Here are five reasons why.

Scott betrayed his best friend

It was widely known that Scott's best friend Stiles had a huge crush on Lydia for quite some time, so when people saw Scott locking lips with Lydia, they could only think of Stiles, who was obviously hurt by his friend's action. However, since he and Lydia weren't actually in a relationship, Scott was quickly forgiven.

It ruined Lydia as a character

Prior to this scene, Lydia was considered to be the perfect female protagonist, so seeing her seduce Scott while he was under the influence of the full moon really made fans dislike her a bit. Thankfully, the bad behavior on her part ended after that, and Lydia restored her reputation with fans, becoming the beloved character that she still is today.

It had no consequences

Even though this scene was quite unpopular, fans still managed to embrace it, expecting to see some major implications later in the show. However, that didn't happen at all, as the writers apparently forgot about the kiss and refused to even acknowledge it. What a missed opportunity!

It contradicted Scott and Lydia's later relationship

Even though the idea of Scott and Lydia being together was quite possible in the early parts of the show, the later seasons proved that the two characters were more like brother and sister than lovers.

This made the scene of them kissing seem even stranger in retrospect.

It set a bad example for other teen shows

After seeing that pointless scene, fans have been arguing that having the main character kiss every single major female character on the show is a stupid idea, but unfortunately, other teen series have picked up the bad habit from Teen Wolf.
