Thus, the first two seasons focused on Daphne and Anthony, in keeping with the novels. Season 3 will deviate from this rule by skipping Benedict in favor of Colin.

For this reason, we can expect the fourth season to break this rule again, skipping both Benedict and Eloise to focus on Fran's story. After all, the former two are popular enough for fans to be willing to watch their season next.

Aside from this marketing ploy to keep the fandom on its toes, Shondaland, which produces Bridgerton, may be using the trick of skipping two characters in favor of Francesca for the sake of surprise. However, the main characters of Season 3 will both be white, so it's unlikely that Season 4 will revolve around other white leads such as Benedict and Sophie or Eloise and Theo. Meanwhile, Francesca's lore has plenty of room for diversity.

Certainly, all of the Bridgertons' personal stories are compelling. But Fran's journey is the most troubled and exciting in the books. As a widow, she is about to experience a major tragedy in her life. Her relationship with Michael is not easy either, as they have to fight social prejudices in order to be together. If that's not perfect material for the Netflix show, there's nothing more to say.

Ambiguous Casting

Rumor has it that Masali Baduza has been cast in Bridgerton. And while her role hasn't been revealed, many fans expect her to be a gender-swapped version of Michael. Frankly, Michelle would add a lot of diversity to the show.
