5 Lesser-Known but Brilliant Miniseries You Can Watch in One Night

Projects for those who are very busy and do not want to waste time on numerous seasons of a show.
After a hard day at work, what better way to unwind than with a little cinematic escapism? If you're looking for short series, these five projects are for you.
1. Parade's End, 2012
The virtuous civil servant Christopher Tietjens lives in an unhappy marriage with his unfaithful wife Sylvia and raises someone else's child. But soon after he falls in love with the young suffragette Valentine, he is forced to go to war.
A rare adaptation of a literary work that pleased everyone: readers and viewers. The main roles in the series were played by Benedict Cumberbatch and Rebecca Hall, as well as Adelaide Clemens.
2. Patrick Melrose, 2018
Aristocrat Patrick Melrose tries to overcome his addictions and return to a normal life. It soon becomes clear that the reasons for the man's self-destructive behavior lie in his distant childhood.
In the series based on the autobiographical stories of Edward St. Aubyn, Benedict Cumberbatch gives a masterful performance and shows a very credible overcoming of personality disintegration.
Patrick Melrose also raises important issues such as the horrors of the consequences of childhood trauma. Not surprisingly, the series won two well-deserved BAFTA awards.
3. The Lost Room, 2006
Detective Joe Miller and his partner are haunted by Room 10 of the Sunshine Motel. However, the local mafia, cultists, and other influential people would not mind getting the key to this room. The viewers, along with the characters, will have to find out what is so unusual behind its door.
It seems that the creators of the series were inspired by the aesthetics of David Lynch. There is a lot of the director's style here, including the mystical plot and understatement. The project will certainly be appreciated by those who like The X-Files or Supernatural.
4. The Night Manager, 2016-2025
The secret services recruit the night manager of the Nefertiti Hotel, Jonathan Pine, to infiltrate a criminal group led by influential businessman and arms dealer Richard Roper.
If Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie alone aren't enough of a reason to watch The Night Manager, the numerous awards speak for themselves: an Emmy for director Susanne Bier, three Golden Globes, and the title of Best British Series of 2016 according to Radio Times.
5. Mildred Pierce, 2011
The series is set during the Great Depression. A housewife's husband leaves her and she is left alone with two children. However, the woman does not lose heart and finds the strength to start her life over again.
The series is based on the novel of the same name by James M. Cain, which has already been adapted for the screen. The lead role was played by the great actress Joan Crawford. The reboot with Kate Winslet was also a success: the series was highly praised by Stephen King himself.
