We all know that George R.R. Martin's main characteristic is to kill off his characters at the very moment we become most attached to them.

And yet, we can be sure that these five POV characters will definitely survive at least through The Winds of Winter.

All the way back in 1993, Martin indicated that he wanted to bring the stories of the five particular characters to the end of the saga.

Though many of the plot twists may end up being similar to those in Game of Thrones, Martin is known for coming up with most of the storylines as he writes his books, rather than planning ahead.

The first one is Tyrion.

In A Dance with Dragons, Tyrion meets Prince Aegon Targaryen, who was presumed dead as an infant (although this storyline was completely cut from the show).

He advises Aegon to go to Westeros to claim the Iron Throne. At the same time, Tyrion went to Daenerys to pledge his loyalty to her as the rightful ruler. Thus, the character is sure to be at the center of events in the two upcoming books.

Next up is Arya!

Though Arya's ultimate goal is to kill all those who have harmed her family, this is still the story of a confused child, torn between wanting revenge and finding out who she is after losing her identity as the Starks' youngest daughter. After all, now there is someone to avenge the family, for in the books Catelyn is resurrected as Lady Stoneheart.

Third on the list is Bran.

His fate may very well repeat the finale of GoT. However, judging from the last book, he is destined for a much greater future, less connected to the material world.

But whether Bran becomes king or the great greenseer who forges a new pact between men and the children of the forest, he is unlikely to die. For he may well transcend the corporeal.

The penultimate on the list is Dany.

While the book may well repeat the fate of the show, we can be certain that Daenerys will live to see the end of The Winds of Winter, as she has yet to conquer Westeros and compete with Aegon for the throne.

And finally, Jon.

Stabbed to death by his Night's Watch brothers, there is no doubt that Martin will resurrect him. In the end, the last thing Jon shouts out is the name of his direwolf, Ghost.

It is quite possible that he will either become a warg like Bran or be resurrected by Melisandre. Or will he become a mysterious entity like Coldhands?

Anyway, we still have to wait for the release of The Winds of Winter, because the book that was announced eleven years ago still seems to be unfinished. So let's wish Martin health and longevity!
