What's in store for the residents of Virgin River?

The wait for Season 5 of Virgin River is taking longer than expected. Originally, fans were confident that, like the previous two seasons, they would get to see Mel Monroe, Jack Sheridan, and other Virgin River residents in July. However, the network decided otherwise and moved the premiere to 7 September, making the hiatus two months longer.

Fortunately, the wait gives the massive Virgin River fandom more time to share their theories about the future of the beloved characters. Here are the most intriguing speculations floating around in fan discussions.

Vince is alive

At the end of Season 4, John 'Preacher' Middleton and Paige Lassiter were reunited for a heartbreaking reason. Vince, the twin brother of Paige's abusive husband Wes, who had been killed earlier, had kidnapped Paige's son Christopher. Preacher confronted Vince and hit him on the head in the ensuing struggle, leaving him seemingly dead.

But many fans are convinced that Vince is alive and that his antagonistic days on the show are far from over. It looks like the troubles for Preacher and Paige are just beginning.

Charmaine's twins’ father is someone unexpected

The biggest Virgin River question right now is who Charmaine's twins' father is. Now that we know it isn't Jack, fans have several theories, each wilder than the last. Some think it could be Jack's Marine buddy Mike. Others suggest Brady, Todd or even Dr. Cameron. In any case, fans are convinced that the answer will surprise us.

Hope will die

Virgin River has no shortage of heartbreaking storylines involving abuse, illness, and, of course, loss. Fans are anticipating some major characters to meet their end in Season 5. Given the car accident and deteriorating health, many believe the one to say goodbye could be none other than Hope McCrea. Hopefully, they will be proven wrong.

Denny Cutler is lying

Since the day Denny arrived at Virgin River claiming to be Doc's grandson, fans have been suspicious of him. His theft of medication and the story about being diagnosed with Huntington's Disease have further fuelled their doubt. Some fan theories suggest that Denny isn't telling the whole truth and isn't even related to Doc.

But why is he in Virgin River? That's what Season 5 will reveal, according to fans.

There will be a Christmas episode

The titles of the upcoming episodes, such as Father Christmas and The More the Merrier, suggest that the Virgin River fandom may finally get what they have been longing for all this time: a cosy Christmas special. Perhaps the premier of Season 5 has been put off so that the episode can air closer to the actual Christmas.

If all goes to plan, watch episodes 1-5 of Virgin River season 5 on Netflix on the 7th of September.
