Dearest Gentle Reader, it seems there may be some sense behind even the wildest of theories…

A now-deleted post by Netflix Portugal may have revealed the release date for Bridgerton Season 3. According to the Twitter post, 'Season 3 of Bridgerton premieres December 14.'

Amidst the confusion and excitement about the potential leak, fans have taken to the internet to share their theories about why the release date makes sense, and they have made some very convincing points.

1. The Tudum Festival

According to fans, the December date 'explains why [they] didn't get a release date or more information/materials at Tudum'

Many fans were convinced that Netflix's Tudum Festival, in June, would be the platform to announce the release date for the 3rd Season of Bridgerton, but no such news was shared, which has led to the idea that Tudum was too soon to announce the release date for a series that is only due in December.

2. Queen Charlotte

Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story premiered at the beginning of May this year, and many fans believe that Netflix wants Queen Charlotte to have a longer run before releasing Bridgerton S3.

Releasing Bridgerton S3 too early would take the attention away from Queen Charlotte, so the December release date was set to create a gap between the two series, and give Queen Charlotte time to shine, accumulating more views before fans turned their attention to the next Bridgerton season.

3. Closing the Gap

Bridgerton Season 4 will likely be affected by the Writers' Strike, which has fans believing that Netflix 'want to space out their finished products until there is more stability in the industry.' With the delays to Season 4 imminent, releasing Season 3 in December may be an effort to close the gap between the release of S3 and the uncertain release of S4, avoiding a big gap in between.

4. Following a Pattern

Fans have pointed out that Season 3 has been following the same timeline as Season 1 as 'both seasons 1 and 3 started filming in July and wrapped in February-March' and then S1 was released on 25 December, and S3 may be released on 14 December.

Whether coincidental or intentional, there is an undeniable parallel between S1 and S3, fans just aren't certain yet if it follows all the way until the end.

5. Emily in Paris

Another Netflix show was delayed by the Writer's Strike, and with Netflix unable to release Emily in Paris in December as intended, many believe that Bridgerton S3 was due for an earlier release, but was pushed back to December to fill the gap left by Emily in Paris and serve as a 2023 Holiday Release.

These all make sense, but we're not sure what to believe. We can only wait for an official release date to see if these theories hold up in the end…
