Who will be missed the most?

Regrettably, the screen time for Bridgerton is limited. The very structure of Netflix's romantic series necessitates that as new love stories take center stage in new seasons, some of the previous characters must step aside to accommodate the new protagonists, their romantic interests, and the people around them.

Apart from this rationale, actors might have personal reasons for leaving the hit series. Here are five fan-favorite cast members who have confirmed they will not be returning for Bridgerton Season 3.

Regé-Jean Page (Simon Basset)

The Duke of Hastings was undoubtedly the heartthrob of Season 1. However, the actor who portrayed him only signed on for one season, feeling that his character's journey was neatly wrapped up with his joyous marriage to Daphne Bridgerton. That is why he chose not to continue with the show beyond Season 1 and departed to pursue other projects.

Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Bridgerton)

With her love interest, Simon Basset, no longer in the picture, there were few storylines for Daphne to feature in. She made a brief appearance in Season 2 as Anthony's sagacious married sister, but further appearances seem redundant.

After all, any developments within the Basset family, such as the birth of new children, can be referenced in the show without necessarily being shown. Phoebe Dynevor confirmed in an interview with Screen Rant that Daphne will not be featured in Season 3.

Charithra Chandran (Edwina Sharma)

Edwina Sharma's situation is a perfect example of what we mentioned earlier. After playing a significant role in Season 2, Kate's sister and her story are no longer pertinent to the main plot.

Indeed, Charithra Chandran informed The Indian Express last year that her character won't be present in Season 3. Well, we can at least hope she finds her happily ever after off-screen.

Ruby Barker (Marina Crane)

After playing a major role and experiencing significant character growth in Season 1, Marina moved away from London to live with her new family and only made a brief appearance in Season 2. It looks like we won't be seeing this character at all in Season 3.

Ruby Barker confirmed on her Instagram that she had left Bridgerton, causing many fans of the show to react strongly. The actress's departure likely implies a grim future for her character.

Ruby Stokes (Francesca Bridgerton)

Fear not. The third Bridgerton daughter remains part of the family and will hopefully have her own season based on the fan-favorite book by Julia Quinn. However, the actress playing her was replaced before Season 3 due to scheduling conflicts. Ruby was cast in Lockwood & Co, which was unfortunately recently canceled by Netflix.

As of Season 3, the role of Francesca will be played by Hannah Dodd from Anatomy of a Scandal.
