5 Biggest Problems With Ted Lasso Season 3 That Can't Be Resolved
The current season of the hit show is its worst yet.
Apple TV+'s successful series about an American football coach recruited to manage an English association football team provided the perfect antidote for the gruelling pandemic months of 2020. However, the third season seems to be losing the feel-good touch that resonated with viewers.
The show's writers have deviated from the winning formula, causing fans to accuse the creators of doing irreparable damage to the once-beloved show.
Here are the 5 biggest problems that Season 3 can't fix:
Excessively Long Episodes
Fans were surprised to discover that the third season's episodes would nearly double in length compared to the first two seasons. Initially, this was met with positive feedback. But, considering the other shortcomings, the episodes now appear bloated, prompting fans to express nostalgia about the show's original 30-minute format.
Boring Storylines
While viewers initially supported characters like Rebecca and Keeley getting more screen time, Season 3 demonstrated these narratives were less engaging than Ted's. The trials and tribulations of Keeley's PR firm and Rebecca's journey of self-discovery simply failed to capture viewers' imagination.
Ted Losing Main Character Status
Despite the show's title suggesting Ted would be central, Season 3 has diversified its focus to other characters. Ted seems to have been relegated to the periphery, which fans perceived as a critical mistake.
Football Sidelined
At its heart, Ted Lasso is a sports show, even if the characters occasionally outshine the football narrative. Fans were upset when Keeley's PR firm storyline received more screen time than the actual game in Season 3, feeling that too much time was wasted on an uninteresting subplot.
Subpar Writing
The announcement that Bill Lawrence would not be the primary writer for Ted Lasso Season 3 was met with apprehension. Lawrence had decided to devote more attention to his other Apple TV+ series, Shrinking. Unfortunately, these fears proved right, as the show now seems a mere shadow of its former self.
Ted Lasso Season 3 Episode 12 will arrive on Apple TV + on 31 May 2023.
