Happy, lifelong relationships are a rare exception rather than the rule among celebrities.
So, even though we're only one-third into 2023, the challenge was not finding celebrity breakups but selecting the five biggest ones.
Please don't hold it against us if the breakup of the couple you've been watching most closely did not make our list.
5. Maisie Williams and Reuben Selby
Maisie Williams, best known for her role on Game of Thrones, dated Reuben Selby for five years. However, their relationship ultimately didn't work out. As is becoming increasingly common, she announced their decision to split up through a short Instagram post.
4. Brie Larson and Elijah Allan-Blitz
The Oscar-winning MCU star and the Emmy-nominated virtual reality experience director dated from 2019 until very recently, which qualifies as a long-term relationship in celebrity circles. But in an interview with Harper's Bazaar, Brie stated that she currently has no partner. At least their relationship was low-key enough that their parting went unnoticed for some time.

This year seems unlucky for actresses most famous for their action movie roles. Megan Fox also appears to have ended her relationship with her longtime boyfriend (and husband) – rapper and actor Machine Gun Kelly.
According to People, she deleted all his photos from her Instagram. Instead, she posted a solo photo of herself, captioned, 'You can taste the dishonesty/it's all over your breath.'
2. Shannen Doherty and Kurt Iswarienko
Shannen Doherty's third marriage seemed to be finally working out for the parties involved, as she and Iswarienko had been married for 11 years. However, it was only working out until it didn't. Just this April, Doherty announced that she had filed for divorce.

Similarly, the relationship between Taylor Swift and English actor Joe Alwyn appeared to be enduring. They dated for six years, with Alwyn even co-producing Swift's recent albums, including Folklore and Evermore. But in early April, they announced they were ending things. As ET Online reported, they had actually parted ways before that, and their split was amicable.
