These five British artists bailed on the royal event.

The most important event in recent history of the UK, King Charles III's coronation took place on May 6 and was attended by many A-list guests from all over the globe. Politicians, celebrities and, in a break with a 900-year-old tradition, foreign royals made appearances at Charles' crowning ceremony.

After the coronation itself, there was a concert where many famous musicians played in front of the newly minted monarchs and the rest of the guests. The headliners on the day were Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and the pop band Take That. The former two even got a chance to chat with King Charles and Queen Camilla during American Idol live broadcast from Windsor Сastle.

Nevertheless, not everyone was so keen to take part in the coronation concert. Here are five big names in the music industry who turned down their invite to perform at King Charles' crowning.

  1. Elton John

The legendary musician has been busy with his farewell tour for the past five years. Although it is due to end this July, Elton John's schedule apparently had no extra time to squeeze in a performance at King Charles' crowning. Instead, the artist had concerts in Germany at the beginning of May.

  1. Spice Girls

These British singers have been sporadically active for the past several years after their reunion in 2018. But like Elton John, they couldn't make it to the coronation because of the conflict in their schedules.

  1. Harry Styles

For the past three years, the singer has been on tour, which is supposed to finish in July 2023. It looks like the former One Direction member didn't have time to play at King Charles's crowning as well.

  1. Adele

'Rumor Has It' that Adele turned down her invite as well. Unfortunately, her reasons to pass on the royal event are unknown.

  1. Ed Sheeran

The famous British bard also reportedly bailed on King Charles' coronation. While Ed Sheeran didn't speak out on the matter, he clearly preferred the warm LA weather as he was hosting American Idol with Alanis Morissette, replacing the show's regular judges Katy Perry and Lionel Richie who did make it to the royal event.

But even without these artists in attendance, both the coronation and the concert turned out to be spectacular. Hopefully, the new monarchs, Charles and Camilla, weren't too upset and will soon get a chance to hear these singers perform.
