5 Best Moments From Season 2 Of The Bear, Ranked by How Emmy-Worthy They Are
The Bear Season 2 turned out to be one of the most immersive stories of the year.
The second season of The Bear proved to be as anxiety-inducing as it was deep, relatable and touching. Here's a look back at the season's best moments.
5. Copenhagen trip
This season, each of Carmy's co-workers was stuck in limbo, haunted by trauma and pressing issues both on and off the job. As pastry chef Marcus was facing an identity crisis, Carmy sent him to Copenhagen, not only to hone his skills, but also to help him reboot and see whether he really wanted to continue cooking professionally.
The Denmark episode turned out to be much quieter compared to the raucous hustle and bustle of Chicago, perfectly capturing Marcus' new-found serenity of mind. He was able to finally come to terms with his mother's illness and realize his desire to develop his culinary creativity.
4. Sundae
The dynamic between Carmy and Syd is one of the best parts of the recent season. By this point, the two are not just co-workers but close friends, trying to build trust in each other — after all, they're the ones responsible for the future of the new restaurant, and without mutual trust, they won't be able to develop an effective business workflow.
In terms of the characters' dynamic, the most memorable part of Season 2 is the episode where Syd travels to different restaurants in Chicago and reflects on his relationship with Carmy through various dishes.
3. Family Dinner
In Season 2, we finally got a flashback with the Berzatto family, and it just showed why Carmy ended up so traumatized, alienated, and unable to express his emotions properly. The Christmas dinner started off as a nice family event but led to accusations, hostility, and arguments among family members and guests. Sadly, many viewers can probably relate to that.
2. Richie's confidence in his own future
Cousin Richie tried to cling to his comfort zone, dealing with his problems and fears, but then realized he wasn't getting anywhere with this approach, and that's where an existential crisis kicked in. Fortunately, Carmy found a solution by sending him to a three-star Michelin restaurant for training, so Richie was able to understand it wasn't too late to start over.
The scene where Richie drives through Chicago at night to Taylor Swift's 'Love Story' is one of the most life-affirming in The Bear.
1. The walk-in tragedy
Carmy grew up and worked in an abusive environment, so he never received much love and affection from people around him. In his heartbreaking monologue in the Season 2 finale, he convinces himself that he doesn't deserve happiness. Claire, who harbors feelings for him, is left heartbroken as she accidentally overhears Carmy's words.
That's the most powerful moment of the season, and probably the entire show.
