5 American Horror Story Actor Comebacks That Could've Saved the Show
Who Would You Be Most Excited to See?
The twelfth season of American Horror Story (AHS), titled Delicate, has been disappointing fans with its slow pacing, subpar writing, and questionable performances by the actors.
Even the involvement of international superstar celebrity Kim Kardashian and the return of Emma Roberts seem to have failed to salvage the show. The initial intrigue sparked by the intriguing cast quickly faded due to the season's monotonous, repetitive storylines and dialogue.
What Can Save The Show?
With only two episodes remaining before the midseason break, it seems unlikely that Delicate will be the redeeming season AHS so desperately needs. So, what might save the show?
There's no denying that a compelling AHS-worthy story that harks back to the excitement of the early seasons is what the show is currently in dire need of. Additionally, the return of some veteran cast members could rekindle the interest of the fan base and recapture the attention of millions of former viewers.
Here are five actors whose return could reignite interest in AHS.
Kathy Bates
Despite having portrayed only six characters across five seasons, Kathy Bates is unquestionably one of the most impactful AHS actresses. As the undisputed queen of horror, she can craft a broad range of characters, whether it's the malevolent and twisted Madame Delphine LaLaurie or the motherly and emotional Ethel Darling, that keep viewers riveted.
Angela Bassett
Interestingly, Angela Bassett has only appeared in seasons featuring Kathy Bates and vice versa. Their unique dynamic keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. Furthermore, Bassett is an extraordinary actress who can improve even an average story with her presence.
Evan Peters
Peters is the most versatile cast member, having played 16 roles over nine seasons. Even if you didn't initially watch AHS for him, you likely started to after a few seasons. The show has never been the same since Peters' departure in Season 10. His return could significantly impact the show, especially given the new fan base he has amassed through his roles in blockbusters and hit solo shows.
Alexandra Breckenridge
Though Breckenridge may seem an unusual choice for this list, she truly shone in the two minor roles she played in Coven and Murder House. Since her last appearance on the show, the actress has gained prominence starring in Netflix's romantic drama Virgin River, which could help introduce AHS to new audiences.
Jessica Lange
No explanation is necessary for this choice. If there is one person capable of rescuing AHS and restoring its multimillion ratings, it's Jessica Lange. All four of her roles on the show have been exceptional and captivating; her talent and screen presence are unmatched. There isn't a single original viewer who wouldn't tune in upon hearing of Lange's return.
Episode 4 of American Horror Story: Delicate will premiere on FX on October 11 and will be available for streaming on Hulu from October 12.
