Hollywood stars have walked off the set of the projects they were working on for all sorts of reasons, ranging from conflicts with co-stars to terrible storylines.

Where there are people, there is drama. Where there are creative people, there is even more drama. Consequently, movie sets often become hotbeds of behind-the-camera scandal, with actors freaking out and losing it in every way imaginable, from verbal altercations to storming off the set.

Here are five instances in which stars stomped off a movie set in a swirl of emotions.

Faye Dunaway

One of the most famous on-set feuds resulting in a star walking out dates back to the 1970s. Iconic director Roman Polanski pulled a loose hair from legendary actress Faye Dunaway's head while filming Chinatown.

Polanski felt the hair was interfering with a perfect shot, but Dunaway was appalled by his behaviour and left the set in a state that Polanski described as 'certifiable evidence of insanity.' Dunaway later explained that her reaction was not due to the hair incident but rather the way she was being treated on set in general.

Diana Rigg

Everyone's favourite, Olenna Tyrell from Game of Thrones, was a pleasure to work with, according to her colleagues. However, she was also assertive on set, always confident in her ability to improve her character. At one point, the late actress arrived on the set of the HBO series and began acting before the crew had set up all the cameras.

When it became clear the scene would have to be reshot, she simply declared she was done and left.

Russel Crowe

The iconic actor is infamous for his short fuse, which has landed him in plenty of tabloid headlines over the years. In 2018, Crowe stormed off the set of The True History of the Kelly Gang in a rage after discovering that the catering for the film had run out of rice. The film's crew even received text alerts about Crowe's meltdown.

Carl Weathers

The Rocky star exited the set of the third instalment after a fight with co-star Dolph Lundgren. They were filming a boxing match between Apollo Creed and Ivan Drago, and Lundgren, who had been feuding with Weathers for some time, threw Weathers across the ring. Carl left the set in a rage, and it reportedly took Sylvester Stallone a few days to reconcile the two.

Emma Watson

The Harry Potter star is likely the least scandalous and most pleasant actress to work with. However, even she has walked off the set of one of her projects. Watson refused to shoot a scene in the black comedy This Is the End, in which Danny McBride played a cannibal and kept Channing Tatum on a leash.

Director Seth Rogen later admitted that the scene was not the best, and the creators eventually left it on the cutting room floor.
