It all depends on what Osman and Netflix decide.

Are the Heartstopper show and the Heartstopper comics going to have different endings? The two have roughly the same timeline and storylines, but it all depends on whether or not the author wants the show and the comics to have the same message.

However, that shouldn't stop us from speculating about how the series might end and what would make the finale great or otherwise.

Best possible outcomes:

1. Fast-forward to Nick and Charlie's happy place

Nick and Charlie's love story is sweet and rings true at the same time. Just two seasons in, viewers have grown deeply attached to the two characters.

Heartstopper Fans Already Have the Perfect Ending in Mind

Naturally, many would want to see them still happily together 10, 20 or even 30 years from now as adults.

2. Old love and new beginnings

An open-ended yet optimistic finale could also be a fantastic choice. Picture a heartwarming ending where Charlie visits college-bound Nick, and they exchange their signature 'Hi!' greeting. They would both have their entire lives ahead of them, but with the certainty that they will always be there for each other.

3. Bittersweet yet healthy separation

While it might not appeal to all fans, this ending could serve as a poignant reminder that breakups are a normal part of relationships and life. What matters is that the kids remain friends.

Worst possible outcomes:

1. Both the relationship and friendship end

While it's natural for old love to fade and for people to drift apart, no longer remaining friends, such an ending would contradict the show's optimistic and life-affirming tone.

2. Season 3 will be the last one

Although Oseman has stated that she already has the ending in mind and plans to stay with the show until at least Season 4, the final decision also hinges on the ratings and the predictable unpredictability of Netflix. If the streaming service decides to cancel Season 4 or make Season 3 the final one, it would be a tremendous loss for both the narrative and the fans.
