We still love good old TV action.

The action genre, which was very popular in the 1980s and 1990s, has undergone a certain transformation at the beginning of the new millennium. Action is no longer confined to its old framework; it seeks to merge with other forms, enriching detective and thriller genres with its dynamism.

The main action show of the 2010s, Prison Break, was conceived as a miniseries, but its successful launch allowed its creators to transfer it to a full-fledged format and keep it on the air for as many as four seasons, and in 2017, another one was suddenly released.

20 Years Later, Prison Break Is Still Exciting to Watch

Surprisingly, unlike most TV dramas of the mid-2000s and 2010s, the first season of Prison Break does not seem very dated: it is still an intricate and carefully thought-out thriller about a brilliant architect who deliberately goes to a prison he designed in order to save his own brother.

The setting of the series is also appealing: prison escape stories have always had a strange charm that makes it impossible not to empathize with the characters, and the first season of the series is one of the best examples of the genre.

It's a shame that after the escape itself, the show turned into a strange parody of TV show 24 with government conspiracies, international scandals, and an endless stream of poorly staged action.

Prison Break Is About to Get a Remake on Hulu

Last year it was announced that a new version of Prison Break would be produced on the streaming service Hulu. Its writer and executive producer will be the showrunner of Mayans M.C. Elgin James.

He will tell a story that will take place in the Prison Break universe. As far as we know, it will not be connected with the main characters of the original series – Michael Scofield and Lincoln Burrows.

Details about the plot of the upcoming show are still being kept under wraps. Paul Scheuring, Marty Adelstein and Neal H. Moritz – the creators of the original Prison Break – will be involved in the creation of the project.

With everyone tired of spinoffs, remakes and reboots, a new version of Prison Break doesn't seem like the best idea, but the involvement of the original show's creators gives hope that the remake will be worthy.

Person Break Is One of the Biggest Hits on Netflix Right Now

While fans wait for news about the new version of Prison Break, the series has become one of the top two most watched shows on Netflix.

And this is a great reason to revisit the main series about prison break (but you can limit yourself to the first two seasons).
