2 Virgin River Stars Alexandra Breckenridge's Closest To in Real Life
Actors portraying friends on screen quite often end up hating each other in real life — and that's not surprising, considering how much time they spend together, while the harsh conditions on the set can surely take a toll on even the most patient and friendliest cast members, turning them into ill-tempered monsters ready to lash out on their co-stars.
Luckily, that's not always the case, and some of the Virgin River actors have become close friends in real life too.
The Netflix drama is centered around Mel Monroe, a nurse who moves from Los Angeles to a small town in Northern California to start her life anew.
In the course of the show, Mel manages to overcome the trauma she had because of losing her child earlier, and she gets to meet her new love interest, Jack, and develop a friendship with his younger sister Brie.
And it turns out, much to the fans' delight, that Alexandra Breckenridge, the actress behind Mel, is also good friends with Zibby Allen and Martin Henderson, who play Brie and Jack, respectively.
'I'm really good friends with Zibby Allen, and Martin [Henderson]. Those are my two closest. They're my friends; they're my people,' Breckenridge revealed in an interview.
These characters' relationships in the show are friendly, sweet, and inspiring. Jack Sheridan, played by Henderson, has been friends with Mel since she moved to Virgin River, and the couple is now engaged and expecting a baby. Both characters have their personal issues and suffer from a troubled past, but they do their best to support and help each other deal with their problems.
Jack's younger sister Brie (Zibby Allen), who was introduced in season three, quickly becoming a fan favorite, also helps Mel find her place in life, and fans seem to appreciate the relationships between all three characters:
'Waving hands in the air! I love them! Mel needed a friend closer to her age. She and Brie balance each other out well. I really love Brie and Jack's relationship as well,' one of the show's fans commented on Reddit.
Turning back to the actors' real-life friendships, here's what Alexandra Breckenridge said about the reasons she got close with Zibby and Martin, but not with the other cast members:
'I have kids, and Tim [Matheson], Annette [O'Toole] and I don't really get together on the weekends with the kids,' Breckenridge explained. 'They all have adult children. I mainly hang out a lot with Zibby and Martin.'
It's always nice to see actors becoming friends in real life, finding something in themselves and their characters they can bond and relate to, so fans admire Alexandra, Martin, and Zibby for carrying over their on-screen friendship into the real world. Meanwhile, we're all expecting season five of Virgin River to come out this summer, and people are eager to learn what happens to the beloved characters later in the show.
