2 Vampire Diaries Stars Guest-Starred on Yellowstone, and No One Noticed
Spotting the cast of your favorite show in another hit series is always nice — especially in one episode at a time!
In its nearly eight years of existence, The Vampire Diaries had introduced its viewers to many fascinating characters, played by some very talented actors.
It is not surprising that, after the show ended, these performers have continued to star in other roles, and sometimes they end up sharing a show and even appearing together in one episode!
That's what happened to James Remar and Dawn Olivieri, who played victims of Stefan Salvatore on TVD and incidentally guest-starred together in one episode of Yellowstone — a hit series following the story of the Dutton rancher family who try to keep control of their own ranch and then the entire state of Montana while dealing with their traumatic family drama (and occasional murders).
In the second episode of Yellowstone Season 5, we are introduced to the characters Kyle Fremont (James Remar) and Sarah Atwood (Dawn Olivieri).
Both of their storylines revolve around John Dutton, now governor of Montana, as he tries to eliminate a real estate company that wants to take over the Yellowstone ranch.
Fremont works for John but is still concerned about suspending the influential company's project, while Atwood works for the company and tries to thwart Dutton.
As in the case of Yellowstone, the fates of both characters in The Vampire Diaries were tied to the fate of the protagonist. Dawn Olivieri played a local news anchor and friend of Jenna Sommers, Andie Star. She was killed by Stefan for a rather silly reason — he tried to prove to his brother that he was unworthy and past the point of saving.
On the other hand, the death of James Remar's character in TVD was far more deserved — not only did Giuseppe Salvatore abuse his wife and mother of Stefan and Damon, he also shot his children to prevent them from becoming vampires. And eventually, one of the sons finally got his revenge on the father.
Though there was no real connection between the characters in TVD and Yellowstone, seeing both actors appear in one episode was nice for the show's devoted fans — at least to those of them who noticed the familiar faces. Hopefully, their characters in Yellowstone won't end up like their counterparts in The Vampire Diaries, though!
