Despite all the recent drama between Kevin Costner and Yellowstone series creator Taylor Sheridan, there has been little uttered directly from the horse's mouth.

In other words, most of the gossip surrounding the feud is not coming directly from those involved in the dispute but, rather, those willing to offer a perspective on what exactly is going on behind the scenes of the most popular show on television.

Dawn Olivieri, a recent addition to the Yellowstone universe thanks to her role of Claire Dutton in 1883, recently offered perhaps the most revealing insights regarding the Costner and Sheridan drama.

Why is Kevin Costner leaving Yellowstone?

Kevin Costner won a Golden Globe this year for his performance as John Dutton in Yellowstone. According to insiders, the achievement has also prompted a request for a salary increase, already expanding on the $1.3 million Costner earns per episode for season five.

However, rumors have been circulating for months that Costner is indeed done with Yellowstone due to shooting conflicts and the inability to make peace with its showrunner, Taylor Sheridan. In general, the rest of the cast and crew have been on a gag order, disclosing little surrounding the drama. Nevertheless, others (including anonymous sources) have had their own opinion of the matter.

Dawn Olivieri forecasts the demise of Yellowstone

Dawn Olivieri, who manages double duty in the Sheridan-verse by appearing in a couple of episodes of 1883 (as well as the role of Sarah Attwood in season five of Yellowstone) recently foreshadowed her thoughts speaking at PaleyFest.

The 42-year-old actress, when approached about the fiasco involving Sheridan and Costner, offered a bleak assessment. 'Sometimes we have to own the fact that nothing is forever and impermanence is the single thing we can count on,' Olivieri explained. 'Life is like that,' she solemnly concluded.

It may not be the words the most faithful fans of Yellowstone want to hear, but perhaps Olivieri is right. Nothing lasts forever, not even the most popular show on TV.

What Happens Next on Yellowstone?

Taylor Sheridan is reportedly prepared to move forward should Costner elect not to return for the remainder of season five. Yellowstone was expected to air new episodes, beginning this summer, yet are currently delayed with no foreseen timeframe.

As a result, Sheridan has been shopping for other ideas, including the recent confirmation that Matthew McConaughey will be joining the upcoming Yellowstone universe in a new spinoff.
