1. Mannequin (1987)

A man named Jonathan (Andrew McCarthy) is down on his luck in the job department. He lands a gig at a department store and falls head-over-heels for a mannequin. But here's the twist: This isn't just any mannequin. It comes to life and reveals herself as Emmy (Kim Cattrall), an Egyptian princess who's been cursed.

The two have a whirlwind romance – mostly after store hours to keep Emmy's true nature a secret. In between romantic escapades, they also give the struggling store a makeover. Of course, there's an evil store manager who's trying to uncover how suddenly the store is doing so well.

2. Just One of the Guys (1985)

Terry Griffith (Joyce Hyser) has a problem. She's an aspiring journalist but believes her teachers don't take her seriously because she's a pretty girl. So she decides to transfer to a different high school posing as a boy to win a journalism contest. As "Terry the Boy," she befriends Rick (Clayton Rohner), who helps her fit into the male-dominated world, not knowing her real identity. Terry starts falling for Rick, but can't confess her feelings without revealing her secret.

3. Teen Witch (1989)

A makeover story with a supernatural twist. Louise Miller (Robyn Lively) is an unpopular high school girl who learns she's a witch on her 16th birthday. Forget zits and prom drama – she's got magical powers! She uses her newfound abilities to become popular and win the heart of the school jock, Brad. The movie's most memorable moment? Probably the cringe-worthy rap battle. It's hard to forget and so bad it's good.

4. Can't Buy Me Love (1987)

Patrick Dempsey plays Ronald, a high school nerd who pays the popular girl, Cindy (Amanda Peterson), to pretend to be his girlfriend. Why? To climb the social ladder, of course. Ronald gives Cindy $1,000 to help her replace a ruined dress, and in return, she helps him become popular. But popularity isn't all it's cracked up to be. Ronald finds himself alienating his true friends and transforming into a jerk.

5. Earth Girls Are Easy (1988)

Three furry aliens crash-land in the swimming pool of a manicurist named Valerie (Geena Davis). Valerie is going through a rough patch with her cheating fiancé, so she decides to give the aliens – played by Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans, and Jeff Goldblum – a human makeover. What do you get when you shave off the fur? Three hot guys ready for some earthly romance. Valerie and Jeff Goldblum's character, Mac, end up falling for each other, and it's a romance that's truly out of this world.

6. The Secret of My Success (1987)

Brantley Foster (Michael J. Fox) is a Kansas boy with big city dreams. When he moves to New York City, he quickly learns that life in the Big Apple isn't as glamorous as it seems. He lands a job in the mailroom of a big corporation but isn't content to stay at the bottom. So, what does he do? He poses as an executive, naturally! While juggling both roles, he falls for Christy (Helen Slater), who is – awkwardly – his boss's mistress.

Ever thought a big nose could be an obstacle to love? That's the problem C.D. Bales (Steve Martin) faces in Roxanne. Based loosely on the classic play Cyrano de Bergerac, C.D. is the witty but self-conscious fire chief in love with Roxanne (Daryl Hannah). Problem is, he thinks she'll never fall for a guy with his schnoz. Instead, he helps a handsome but dim-witted fireman win her affection by writing love letters for him.

Blind dates: they're either a hit or a catastrophic mess. For Walter Davis (Bruce Willis), it's definitely the latter. He's set up on a blind date with Nadia (Kim Basinger), who's sweet but becomes wildly unpredictable after consuming alcohol. Walter is warned about this, but one thing leads to another, and Nadia gets drunk. What follows is a disastrous night involving a wrecked car, jail, and a misunderstanding that nearly costs Walter his job.

Doug Simpson (Tony Danza) is a widowed father, who is pretty chill until his geeky teen daughter Katie (Ami Dolenz) goes through a stunning transformation. Think braces off, new wardrobe, and voila! She's a knockout. Cue the parade of awkward teenage boys who now suddenly find Katie irresistible. Doug loses it and becomes an overprotective, obsessive dad trying to manage Katie's exploding dating life, even goes as far as hiring a man to spy on her.

Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell star in this wild ride. Hawn plays Joanna, a spoiled, wealthy woman who loses her memory after falling off her yacht. Russell plays Dean, a carpenter who decides to exact revenge on Joanna for not paying him for his work. He tricks her into thinking she's his wife, saddling her with his unruly kids and a messy home. You can probably guess where this is headed. They begin to fall for each other as Joanna gets used to life without luxury.
