Zootopia 3 Roars Ahead With Promising Update After Sequel’s Success
Zootopia 2 roared into theaters November 26 and is already a box office winner, with a post-credits tease and fresh hints from Ginnifer Goodwin and the cast pointing to Zootopia 3 on the horizon.
Disney rolled out Zootopia 2 on November 26, 2025, and it looks like audiences showed up. If you stuck around through the credits, you probably caught a little nudge toward where this world could go next. And now the two leads are hinting that a third movie might not take forever to happen.
Where the sequel leaves our duo
The new film drops Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde back into detective mode, this time chasing a reptile who turns Zootopia upside down. It is very much the buddy-cop groove again, but with their partnership a little further along.
Goodwin and Bateman on Judy, Nick, and a possible Part 3
In a recent Collider chat, Ginnifer Goodwin (Judy) and Jason Bateman (Nick) talked about where their characters are emotionally and whether a third film is on the table.
The short version: they see Judy and Nick as learning to accept each other exactly as they are, and that mutual respect is changing Nick for the better. Goodwin joked that Judy does not need much fixing, and Bateman basically agreed, tossing up his hands about where a third story might go if they get the chance.
'I don't think it would be as long.'
That was Goodwin, reacting to the idea of jumping straight into a third movie rather than making fans wait years again. When the interviewer brought up the gap between the first and second films and mentioned the post-credits tease, both actors laughed that the interviewer had indeed seen what the movie was hinting at. Bateman asked if Goodwin meant a shorter runtime or a shorter wait; she clarified she meant getting the next one made sooner. She also joked about the cast not getting any younger, before adding that they look amazing. Hard to argue.
The tease at the end
The actors did not spill specifics, but they acknowledged the post-credits tag is exactly what it looks like: a wink at where this universe could go if Disney gives the green light.
- Zootopia 2 opened November 26, 2025 and appears to be performing well.
- The sequel follows Judy and Nick investigating a reptile wreaking havoc in the mammal metropolis.
- On a third film, Bateman joked he is not sure where it would go, but both leads acknowledged the end-credits tease.
- Goodwin believes the wait for Zootopia 3 would not be nearly as long and clarified she meant the time to make it, not the movie's runtime.
Bottom line: the sequel is off to a strong start, there is a not-so-subtle breadcrumb in the credits, and the stars sound ready to return. If Disney wants this train to leave the station sooner, they have their conductors.
