Disney drops the international trailer for Zootopia 2, reuniting Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde for a high-stakes new mystery. Starring Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin, the sequel bounds into theaters November 26.

Disney dropped the international trailer for Zootopia 2, and yes, Judy and Nick are back on the beat - sort of. The sequel hits theaters November 26, and the new footage does a lot more than tease cute critters. It sets up a legit relationship crisis, a venomous new threat, and some delightfully odd character cameos, including one that is literally a pen. More on that in a second.

The setup: partners, therapy, and a snake

After cracking the biggest case in Zootopia history, Officer Judy Hopps and newly minted partner Nick Wilde are not basking in the glow for long. Chief Bogo orders them into a counseling track called Partners in Crisis to see if they are actually cut out to be a duo. That might sound like paperwork and awkward trust exercises, but the trailer quickly pivots to a real problem: a dangerous snake arrives in the city, and Judy and Nick start chasing a twisty mystery tied to it.

The stakes are pretty personal. If they mess this one up, Bogo may split them for good. The footage leans into action and some surprisingly tense beats, and it looks like the movie is going to spotlight Zootopia's reptile community - framed here as more misunderstood than menacing.

New faces in the precinct - and beyond

Ke Huy Quan joins as Gary De'Snake, a pit viper whose presence sets a lot of this in motion. Quinta Brunson voices Dr. Fuzzby, and Fortune Feimster is Nibbles. The trailer and official character notes also confirm a pile of cameo voices from recent Disney favorites, and the descriptions are wonderfully specific - and occasionally bizarre.

  • Dwayne Johnson is Zeke, a hyper-unlucky dik-dik who suffers a musical mishap when Judy and Nick's high-speed chase goes sideways.
  • Auli'i Cravalho voices the Anti-Venom Pen - yes, like an actual anti-venom injector tied to Gary De'Snake. It is described as almost as cute as he is, which is both funny and a little alarming.
  • Rachel House is Gramma Taller, currently locked up at the ZPD and making Nick's jailhouse visit even more unpleasant.
  • David Fane plays Truffler, the meathead razorback partner to Captain Hoggbottom.
  • Josh Gad is Paul Moledebrandt, a cranky mole and the ZPD's IT boss who runs his server room with a tiny iron paw.
  • Anika Noni Rose pops up as the mouse from Zootopia's game show Squeal of Fortune - lucky enough to snag an almost-new car.
  • Stephanie Beatriz and Wilmer Valderrama voice hippo cop partners Bloat and Higgins. Great swimmers, easily distracted - and at some point they are hunting new fugitives Judy and Nick. Yes, the heroes appear to end up on the wrong side of the badge, at least temporarily.
  • John Leguizamo is Antony, a smooth-talking anteater smuggler who sprints at the first whiff of trouble.

Creative team and returning voices

Jared Bush and Byron Howard, who steered Encanto, co-directed Zootopia 2. Bush also wrote the screenplay, and Yvett Merino is producing.

On the returning side, Shakira is back as Gazelle; Idris Elba returns as Chief Bogo; Bonnie Hunt and Don Lake are Judy's parents, Bonnie and Stu Hopps; Nate Torrence is back as fan-favorite Clawhauser; Jenny Slate returns as Bellwether; Alan Tudyk is once again Duke Weaselton; Maurice LaMarche is Mr. Big; Leah Latham is Fru Fru; Josh Dallas reprises the Frantic Pig; and Tommy Chong returns as Yax. The notes also list Mark Rhino among the returning voices - an oddly truncated credit, but he is in the mix.

The international trailer is out now if you want a first look at the tone and the snake-sized complications. Between therapy homework, a citywide venom problem, and that blink-and-you-miss-it hint that Judy and Nick get branded as fugitives, this sequel is not exactly coasting. November 26 is going to be busy.
