Disney’s Zootopia 2 is stampeding toward the $1 billion club after two record-smashing weekends, surging to $915.8 million worldwide and rising to No. 2 in China behind Avengers: Endgame.

Disney did not put a ceiling on Zootopia 2. After two record-setting weekends, the sequel is steamrolling toward the $1 billion club and putting up wild numbers overseas, especially in China.

By the numbers

  • Worldwide total: $915.8 million
  • Domestic: $220.5 million
  • International: $695.3 million
  • China: $430.4 million (now the country’s No. 2 movie ever, behind Avengers: Endgame)
  • France: $27.3 million
  • Korea: $25.6 million
  • Mexico: $18.6 million
  • Germany: $16.2 million
  • IMAX: $49.2 million on the format
  • Thanksgiving haul: $156 million over the five-day holiday, $96.8 million for the standard three-day weekend

The big headline: at $915.8 million worldwide, it is expected to crack $1 billion this week.

China is the engine

Here is the part that jumps out: Zootopia 2 has turned into a phenomenon in China, where it has made $430.4 million and now ranks as the country’s No. 2 film ever, trailing only Avengers: Endgame. It is also the biggest release of the year in both China and Vietnam.

IMAX bragging rights

On IMAX screens alone, the movie has banked $49.2 million. That bump pushed it into rare company: it is now IMAX’s third-highest-grossing release for a Hollywood title and the top IMAX release internationally.

There is also a studio stat making the rounds that the film has already exceeded the cumulative totals across a batch of international markets, including China, Korea, Mexico, Brazil, Turkey, and the UAE. The wording there is a little opaque, but the gist is simple: it is overperforming in a lot of places at once.

Disney’s 2025 victory lap

Thanks largely to Zootopia 2, Disney has crossed $5 billion at the global box office for 2025. That makes it the first (and so far only) studio to hit $5 billion this year, and the first to do it in back-to-back years. Last year’s push came from Moana 2, Inside Out 2, and Deadpool & Wolverine.

The essentials

Zootopia 2 is still in theaters. Jared Bush and Byron Howard directed, with Bush also writing the script. The voice cast brings back Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman, and adds Ke Huy Quan, Idris Elba, Shakira, and Patrick Warburton.
