Zootopia 2 and 4 Other Most Anticipated Animated Films to Be Released in 2025

1. Elio

Release Date: June 13, 2025

On June 13, the new Pixar animation Elio will be released. This is the 25th anniversary animation project of the studio. The movie tells the story of an 11-year-old boy, Elio, who accidentally becomes an intergalactic ambassador of the planet Earth.

Elio is a mix of science fiction and a coming-of-age story. The director was Coco creator Adrian Molina. However, the movie was finished by other people after him: Madeline Sharafian and Domee Shi. Executive producer Pete Docter says that the castling is not related to the conflict with Molina and the director is already working on another project at Pixar.

2. Dog Man

The plot is devoted to the investigations and accompanying adventures of a canine officer. He became such as a result of an accident: the human hero and his dog were at the scene of a terrible explosion.

Both were saved only because the head of the animal was transplanted to the body of its owner. The project is based on the children's comic book series of the same name by Dav Pilkey.

The animation is being developed by DreamWorks Animation and will be a spin-off of the animated film Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, which was released in 2017.

3. Zootopia 2

Release Date: November 26, 2025

We are waiting for the sequel to the animated hit of 2016 – Zootopia 2. The film will again be dedicated to the rabbit Judy, the fox Nick and other inhabitants of Zootopia. The ranks of well-known characters will be joined by a new character – a viper.

There are no details about the plot yet. But it is known that its release is scheduled for November 26, 2025.

Work on the sequel dragged on for almost ten years due to various circumstances: from the financial difficulties of the studio and the pandemic to the not very successful box office results of other Disney animated projects, which raised doubts about the need to revive Zootopia.

4. Wildwood

The plot centers on 12-year-old Prue McKeel of Portland. The girl sets out to find her younger brother, who has been taken into a dense, wild forest by a flock of black crows. The thicket has long been the subject of scary legends, but the brave girl refuses to believe any of them. However, once in the forest, she immediately encounters various magical creatures.

The animation is an adaptation of the fantasy book of the same name by The Decemberists singer Colin Meloy and illustrator Carson Ellis. The animation studio Laika, which specializes in puppet animation, is responsible for the adaptation of the novel in the dark fantasy genre.

5. The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants

Release Date: December 19, 2025

The new installment of the SpongeBob franchise will be released on December 19th. All the characters we loved from the animated series will return to the big screen.

In addition to the optimist who lives in a pineapple house, there is Patrick, Squidward and Sandy. It is expected that in the upcoming project SpongeBob will go to the unexplored depths of the ocean, where he will meet the ghostly Flying Dutchman.
