What to expect with Cavill's 'Heroic Sendoff'.

Fans finally have their first look at Season 3 of The Witcher, marking Henry Cavill's final installment as Geralt of Rivia. Netflix dropped the trailer on YouTube on April 25th, garnering over two million views in just two days. Here's the complete guide to the hit show's Season 3 release dates.

As usual, Netflix continues to release episodes in bunches rather than on a weekly basis, preferring their viewers to binge-watch rather than increase anticipation.

The show will be released in two separate parts this summer. Volume 1 (comprising Episodes 1-5) will be released on June 29th, a Thursday. Volume 2 (Episodes 6-8) will be released on June 27th.

The season will follow Geralt and Yennefer taking Ciri into hiding as enemies try to capture her. They try to learn more about Ciri's magic powers as they're thrust into a political battle that will risk everything.

Geralt was played by Henry Cavill, best known for his role as Superman in DCEU, for the first two seasons. He'll be reprising his role for Season 3, but after that will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth (Hunger Games). Cavill, a fan of the character from both the original novels and the video games, was incensed at the direction the show was taking. The showrunners were taking a lot of liberties from the source material, altering characterizations and key plot points.

He's repeatedly spoken out about how much he's loved playing one of his favorite video game characters, but no longer wants to be part of a series that doesn't take adaptations seriously.

While many fans are on Cavill's side, the show is still massively popular. Over 140 million people streamed Season 2 within three days of release.

Cavill and the showrunners have promised that the actor will have a 'heroic sendoff' before he's set to be replaced.

Beyond Cavill, fans can expect Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan to return as Ciri and Yennefer, respectively. Also reprising their roles will be Joey Batey (Jaskier), Mimi Ndiweni (Fringilla), Wilson Mbomio (Dara), MyAnna Buring (Tissaia), Eamon Farren (Cahir), and Tom Canton (Filavandrel), among others.

Coming into the fray are Robbie Amell as Gallatin and Meng'er Zhang (Shang-Chi) as Milva.

The Witcher was created for the screen by showrunner and executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, whom fans of the source material have blamed for the direction of the series. The series is based on the novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, made famous by the video games by CD Projekt RED.
