Young Sheldon's Season 6 Finale Just Dropped Another Plot Hole on TBBT Fans

Young Sheldon is known to every fan of The Big Bang Theory as a prequel that gave new life to the iconic Sheldon character, but in the process, it also created many irregularities in the lore of the parent show. The new information about the current Season 6 finale only adds to that fact.

The sitcom's Season 6 is a typical 22-episode chapter that ends with a special one-hour episode on May 18. Although there are still a few episodes left to air, TVLine has already unveiled the official summary of the finale, and it left many TBBT fans scratching their heads.

According to the source, the first part is titled 'A Romantic Getaway and a Germanic Meat-Based Diet' and will show Mandy and Georgie during a romantic spa getaway and Sheldon preparing for a summer trip to Germany. Part 2 is called 'A Tornado, a 10-Hour Flight and a Darn Fine Ring,' and it will focus on Sheldon going to Germany with his mother while the rest of the Cooper clan deals with a tornado at home.

It was the trip to Germany that surprised TBBT fans. Although they expected Sheldon to go to Europe and become a visiting professor at a German institute, no one thought it would happen so soon.

According to TBBT canon, Sheldon was supposed to move abroad at 15, but in Season 6, the boy genius is only 13 years old. This means that the creators of Young Sheldon decided to skip more than a year of Sheldon's life, thus creating a huge plot hole.

What's worse, in doing so, the writers ignore some pretty important facts from Sheldon's past. First, before Europe, he should go to Pasadena for postgraduate studies at Caltech. Second, and most importantly, the move to Germany is to be preceded by some key events in the family.

George Sr. is supposed to cheat on Mary with another woman, allegedly Brenda Sparks.The spin-off's creators actually said that the cheating scandal is not to be featured in the current season, which means that Young Sheldon is altering the lore again.

It looks like the creators are changing the order of events to avoid showing George Sr.'s cheating incident and also to postpone his death. But is that really necessary, fans wonder?

Season 6 Episode 18 of Young Sheldon is set to air on CBS on April 27, 2023.
