Young Sheldon Fans Expect Only This From the Sitcom's Spin-Off

Although Young Sheldon focuses on its titular character, the younger version of The Bing Bang Theory's Dr. Cooper isn't the show's ultimate fan favorite. In fact, Shelly is considered one of the most annoying characters on the sitcom. Fortunately, there's another character who used to irritate viewers - Sheldon's older brother Georgie was quite unpopular with the audience due to his mischievous demeanor. But things seem to have changed for the character.

In the earlier seasons of Young Sheldon, Georgie was an obnoxious, troubled teenager who constantly made fun of his little brother and caused his parents all kinds of problems. However, when he decided to drop out of school and prove himself, he became a more interesting, mature person.

The biggest change in Georgie happened when he got Mandy pregnant; he immediately became someone you could trust and rely on. Moreover, as the couple worked out their relationship and impending parenthood throughout Season 6, Mandy brought out the best in Georgie, which may be why fans are so excited about the already announced spin-off focusing on the two characters. And interestingly enough, there's only one thing viewers are expecting the future show to address.

The Fate of Georgie's First Marriage

As a spin-off of The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon is limited by the canon established by the original CBS sitcom. Thus, YS has so far stuck to the facts about Sheldon's family and past provided by the adult character on TBBT. One of those facts was that Georgie had been married several times in his life, meaning that his first marriage most likely ended in divorce.

As sad as it is to realize, it is Georgie's marriage to Mandy that is doomed from the start. Considering their incredible rapport and the affection Shelly's normally callous older brother has for the mother of his baby, it is indeed heartbreaking. Because of this, the audience wants the upcoming spin-off to fully explore their relationship - from the beginning of their family life to its downfall.

Sure, Mandy and Georgie's marriage and relationship in general is unorthodox. But the characters have proven to be likable, so viewers want them to be happy. Of course, the audience needs the future spin-off to tell the story of why Mandy and Georgie didn't work out as a couple in the end. Hopefully, this will be handled with great care and consideration.
