Yellowstone’s next chapter is locked and loaded: a new teaser for spinoff Y: Marshals just dropped, fueling fresh buzz about its release window, where to watch, and Taylor Sheridan’s role behind the badge.

Yep, the Yellowstone universe is still multiplying. CBS just dropped a quick teaser for Y: Marshals, the Kayce-centered spinoff that trades the ranch for a badge. Here’s the who, when, where, and what you actually need to know.

Release timing and where to watch

Season 1 runs 13 episodes and is aimed at spring 2026. It’s part of CBS’s 2025-26 broadcast lineup and is slotted as a midseason replacement on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET. There’s no exact premiere date yet, so pencil it in for spring and expect specifics closer to then.

If you’re streaming, it will be on Paramount+ in early 2026.

So what is Y: Marshals?

Luke Grimes’s Kayce Dutton leaves the Yellowstone Ranch to join an elite U.S. Marshals unit, which is exactly the kind of job description that lets him mash up his cowboy instincts with his Navy SEAL training. The job is messy: the team works the wide-open parts of Montana, and the show leans into the push-pull between family, duty, and the mental toll of being the last line between order and chaos in the region.

Sheridan’s role this time

Taylor Sheridan isn’t starring, and he’s not the primary writer. He’s on as an executive producer. This is the first Dutton-verse series where he isn’t the main and sole voice on the scripts. Day-to-day showrunning duties go to Spencer Hudnut.

The teaser, in plain English

It’s short, but you do get a new-look Kayce moving through the Montana woods with his fellow marshals, played by Arielle Kebbel and Ash Santos. One line in particular sets the tone:

"I’m just grappling with some skeletons I’d like to keep in my closet."

Also worth noting: Kelsey Asbille’s Monica isn’t on the official cast list for the spinoff, but Kayce is still wearing his wedding ring in the footage.

Cast

  • Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton (returning)
  • Gil Birmingham as Thomas Rainwater (returning)
  • Mo Brings Plenty as Mo (returning)
  • Brecken Merrill as Tate Dutton (returning)
  • Arielle Kebbel as Belle
  • Ash Santos as Andrea
  • Tatanka Means as Miles
  • Logan Marshall-Green as Pete Calvin
  • Brett Cullen also joining (role not announced yet)

Bottom line: plan on Sundays with Kayce in spring 2026 on CBS, with streaming following on Paramount+. New job, same baggage. Sounds about right for this world.
